Good Saturday mornin friends!
Dean here to give an update on what happened over the last week.
First we want let everyone know how grateful we are for outpouring of support, thoughts, prayers, and offers of help.
Eric Haslun , and Todd Del Marter got supers on the bees here in NY and Frankie Pridgen is taking care of the bees in NC. They were my biggest concern, and I guided Elene through a couple phone calls to the right people!
The love and support was felt at every turn and update.
Last Tuesday mornin I was struck by a brain bleed while getting ready for work.
The scariest and most painful thing I've ever had happen to me. Although I don't remember anything till waking Wednesday morning in the Albany Med, Zach came up to talk me into going in the ambulance.
This week has been full of monitoring, testing, and regulating pain. I'm also dealing with a severe case of double vision, which they say can take up to six weeks to fix itself......This doesn't make walking or texting easy, and driving an impossibility.
They kicked me out of the hospital Thursday, that night being one of the most uncomfortable with pain. There was a big improvement last night!
MRI and CTIscans show the bleeding has stopped and is slowly draining as it should. Now its a wait and see till things get back to normal .
As I mentioned, the outpouring of support was felt every minute. There were tears shed every evening in the hospital as the reports came in from of the messages from the day!
Ive got the greatest friends and family!!

Hi Everyone - This is Kayla posting on behalf of my dad. I wanted to let you all know that he recently had a serious medical emergency and is currently still in the hospital recovering.

He truly values each and every one of you, and as soon as he’s feeling better, he will personally return all calls, messages, and business inquiries. Thank you so much for your patience, kindness, and understanding—it truly means a lot to our family.

Our family truly appreciates all of your support, prayers, and well wishes—it means more than we can express. Thank you 🤍

Hey friends
My Papa used to make the best dandelion wine. Even as young boys we were allowed to take sips every once in a while.......
I searched through his many many journals, and there's no mention of his recipe, if he ever had one written down.
To the best of my knowledge, the mash included dandelion blooms, raisins, oranges, and yeast. It was allowed to sit in the corner of the dinning room in crocks during fermentation. We always knew it was "working" as the dinner plates that covered the the crocks would rattle as the concoction "burped", and Pa would smile!
Ive long wanted to carry on the tradition, but can not find a recipe with only these ingredients.
If you've got a favorite old school recipe, I'd enjoy making a batch this spring!

A few highlights of the past few days while working our bees in NC.
Spent the week cleaning deadout equipment and preparing it for splits. Nothing takes the wind out of your sails as much as this does.......
Had 2 swarms (not our bees) move into palletized empty equipment while I was working next to it.
Syrup is the name of the game right now, as it's been very very dry for over a month, and there's not a drop of rain in sight!
Got to see the spaceX go over and light up the sky at 5:30 Tuesday mornin as I left for breakfast.
I was made an official member of the ole man's coffee club this mornin!
Splits get pulled Friday and set in the mating yard Friday night. Cells get placed Saturday and the mother colonies get loaded Saturday night.
They'll get their 14hr ride home Sunday.
Diesel prices dropped .15c here this mornin. Hoping they keep going down before Sunday mornings fill up!

Good Tuesday mornin friends!
Got this load of equipment parked at "BEE CAMP SOUTH" at 1:30 this mornin. A couple hours rest after a 14 hour trip, I joined the locals for breakfast, now ready to unload and prepare cell starters for tomorrow's grafts.
We took a heavy loss this winter (long story, will go into detail at some point)
It's rebuilding time!
Ill pull as many splits as possible allowing the mother colonies to stay strong enough to peak in population for our northern honey flow.
Gonna be some very long days this week!

Good Sunday mornin friends! We want to wish you all a very Happy Easter!
