Walnut Creek Employees Association It was formed to open dialogue and discussion between the city of Walnut Creek and its employees is critical. Members pay $15 a month to belong to the WCEA.

The WCEA is a voluntary association of full- and part-time city of Walnut Creek employees, dedicated to promoting communications and cooperation between the city and its employees, improving working conditions and negotiating contracts. tion between the city and its employees, improving working conditions and negotiating contracts. Whether it is on ways to improve services to the community, enhance job performance and satisfaction or negotiate fair wages, the WCEA acts as the voice for employees. While the WCEA works on behalf of all of approximately 150 general unit employees of Walnut Creek. Dues paying members represent about half of that number. The WCEA represents and works on behalf of all city employees. Dues-paying members of the Association vote to elect officers to represent their needs and vote on general business issues including the Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) contract. WCEA officers are elected for two-year terms. While the WCEA is not a union, it acts on behalf of all city employees to represent their concerns, needs and ideas to the city of Walnut Creek. WCEA members represent a rich resource of specialized skills, capabilities, and have extensive knowledge of the City and its surroundings. This allows the employees to work cohesively and rapidly addressing daily needs as well as responding to emergencies. Maintenance of streets, parks, equipment and open spaces, including work in the city’s offices, arts and recreation department, is vital in preserving Walnut Creek’s enviable status as a dining and shopping destination. Unlike contract workers, members of the WCEA are professionals in their field and bring several value-added benefits to the city including:
