Conveyors don’t get much attention until they become the bottleneck… but conveying decisions directly affect throughput, product integrity, and how smoothly the rest of the packaging line runs.

In his recent article published in Packaging Strategies, Rudy Sanchez breaks down where belt, vibratory, and horizontal-motion conveyors each make sense and why the right choice depends on how your product actually behaves in production.

Foreign material removal in leafy greens is especially difficult at the front end of processing. 🥬 You’re dealing with wet, lightweight product, field debris and product that clumps or overlaps, all of which make consistent inspection harder.

Our COMPASS optical sorter for leafy greens is built for that reality, combining advanced detection with gentle product handling and a sanitary design that fits fresh processing environments.

For processors balancing food safety, labor constraints and throughput demands, early-stage sorting decisions can have an outsized impact on line performance.

Labor constraints and rising quality expectations are pushing more processors to rethink where automation fits.

At EXPO PACK Mexico, that conversation spans everything from optical sorting to packaging automation. 🏭 ProFood World’s coverage highlights what solutions DURAVANT companies are bringing to booth 2520, including our COMPASS optical sorter for processors looking to improve defect and foreign material removal without adding operational complexity.

High-volume potato chip production is a balancing act. Raw material variability, quality expectations, and labor constraints all put pressure on the line.

That’s why Key Technology and our sister-company PPM developed a fully-integrated potato chip processing solution that approaches performance as a connected system.

Our COMPASS optical sorter removes defects and foreign material before packaging without adding complexity, while Key Discovery transforms the sorter’s data into insights processors can use to better understand yield, reject trends, and upstream performance.

Because better decisions start with better visibility 🔍

Manual inspection tends to break down when product variability increases.

When defect loads shift or foreign material shows up inconsistently, operators are forced to make judgment calls that don’t always hold up across a full run.

At EXPO PACK Mexico booth 2520, Key Technology is showing a different approach with the COMPASS optical sorter. Multi-channel sensing and multi-wavelength lighting help the system make clearer decisions on every object, without adding complexity to the line.

That means more consistent removal and less dependence on operator interpretation.

Exciting news for food processors in Australia and New Zealand 🌏✨ Key and PPM have opened a new Customer Experience Center in , bringing sales, service, spare parts, and live demonstrations closer to our customers in the region.

This 300-square-meter facility features a state-of-the-art demo lab where processors can see technologies like our COMPASS optical sorter in action and collaborate directly with our team on applications testing and training. The center also marks a return to direct, in-region operations for Key, strengthening our ability to respond quickly and work side by side with customers.

Regional Sales Manager Will Rogers brings deep technical expertise and hands-on experience to support processors across the region with practical solutions that improve quality, increase yield, and reduce cost.

We look forward to building strong, long-term partnerships throughout Australia and New Zealand 🤝
