We were honored to attend the 2026 ACEC National Engineering Excellence Awards Gala in Washington, D.C., where two of our projects—North Fork Riverfront Development and Metropolitan Avenue at I-635 Bridge Replacement & Interchange Improvements—were recognized among outstanding projects from across the nation.

This recognition reflects the talent, collaboration, and commitment of the teams who brought these projects to life.

Attendee Jon Marburger, our Director of Quality Assurance, shares his thoughts about the gala. “We are really proud of the team,” he says. “It’s amazing that no matter how large or small the project, excellence matters in every detail.”

“Seeing how excited and proud everyone was of the work we all are doing is a testament to how important it is,” adds Kevin Kruse, JEO Water Resources Senior Project Manager who also attended.

Thank you to our partners, clients, and project teams for helping make these achievements possible.

Hard water is more than a nuisance—it affects daily life. In David City, Nebraska, residents dealt with mineral buildup, reduced cleaning effectiveness, and dry skin. The City’s 40-year-old lime softening plant worked hard to improve water but struggled as it neared the end of its useful life.

The City turned to us to provide a solution, and in the end, they selected a closed-circuit reverse osmosis system—the first such system in a municipality in Nebraska.

As we celebrate Drinking Water Week, explore what this system is and how it delivers cleaner, safer, and more reliable water for the community—and how it’s already proving to be well worth the investment. https://ow.ly/Sl7K50YVxCF

We’re excited to see Cunningham Commons officially break ground at Lake Cunningham!

This project builds on a beloved outdoor destination, expanding access and year‑round outdoor recreational opportunities for the Omaha community. We’re proud of our landscape architecture team for leading the design and grateful to be working alongside so many great partners to help bring this vision to life.

Safe actions save lives.

Our passion is serving communities and keeping people safe. Every cone, sign, and construction zone represents real people working to improve our roads. Speed plays a major role in work zone crashes—so slowing down truly saves lives.

Do your part. Stay alert. Slow down in work zones.

In October 2022, a wildfire changed the landscape—but it did not change the community’s deep connection to this place.

The Sandhills Discovery Center grows out of the legacy of the 4-H Camp at Halsey, shaped by the people and stories that have long defined it. In the wake of the Bovee Fire, this project reflects a shared commitment to restore, remember, and reimagine what this place can be for future generations.

Trails, gathering spaces, and structures take their cues from the landscape itself—woven into the terrain, not imposed upon it—creating an experience that feels inseparable from its surroundings.

Speaking to Sandhills Express, Jana Jensen, Nebraska Community Foundation Fund Development Coordinator, shared “From the very beginning, it was evident that something needed to be put into place to replace what was gone. This is an opportunity to do something bigger, bolder, better.”

We’re proud to be leading the design on a project that will welcome entertainment, recreation, and connection in City of Fremont, NE.

Grounded in how people already live, gather, and grow, the Fremont Amphitheater in John C. Fremont City Park is shaped by everyday life.

The venue brings together a performance stage, support spaces, and native landscaping. A defining feature, the weathering steel scrim wall etched with Fremont’s historic plat map, is a nod to the city’s roots.

This is how community comes to life: by creating spaces where people can gather, connect, and belong.

As Wahoo, Nebraska, continues to grow, so does the need for available childcare close to home. Recognizing that need, JEO helped spark a conversation, bringing together local leaders and experienced child development professionals to turn an idea into action.

What followed was a truly collaborative effort across the JEO family of companies, from design and development through construction. The result is a 6,800-square-foot facility built to serve up to 80 children.

The Project Future Child Development Center officially opened on March 9, 2026. It represents a commitment to families and a meaningful step toward a stronger future for the community.

During Community Development Week, we’re proud to highlight a project where partnership and purpose came together to make a lasting impact.

Strong communities grow through thoughtful recovery.

Our Environmental Sciences team recently helped guide critical bank stabilization work by leading the NEPA review, bringing together environmental care, regulatory review, and community input.
The project received a "Finding of No Significant Impact," which means restoration work can now move forward.

We’re proud to help protect this important natural resource and support recovery efforts across the region. Learn more: https://ow.ly/FhO350Yy7nb

Adam Goertzen has spent years surveying across southwest Nebraska, uncovering monuments that date back more than a century and solving challenges others couldn’t. From a corner (a documented edge of a property) buried under a county road since the 1890s to historic stones, brass caps, and cedar posts, his work highlights the persistence and precision behind the profession.

As we recognize National Surveyors Week, we’re spotlighting the people behind the work and why discoveries surveyors like Adam make matter.
