Here’s what a day making our production knives looks like.

It starts with steel already cut to shape. Precise. Consistent. No guesswork on the blank.

Then it comes to us.

We grind the bevels by hand. We shape the edge. We sharpen it until it’s ready to work.

It’s not forged on an anvil. But it’s not untouched, either. Every knife still passes through real hands before it reaches yours.

That’s the promise of our production line. Built with precision. Finished with care.

Fire. Hammer. Fold. Repeat.

That’s how a Damascus billet is born.

Layers of steel, welded together, folded over and over until you get hundreds of them fused as one.

It’s slow. It’s loud. It’s exactly how it’s been done for centuries.

“Water or oil? It’s the question that can make or break a blade,” John says.

Water cools the steel fast. Almost too fast. It hardens quick, but push it wrong and the blade cracks right in your hand.

Oil is gentler. Slower. It gives the steel room to breathe as it hardens.

“Every steel has a personality,” John says. “You have to know which one it wants.”

One wrong choice and months of work are gone in a second.

No music. No talking. Just the edge.

Listen to how clean a properly sharpened blade slices through paper.

That’s not luck. That’s a hand-finished edge doing exactly what it’s built to do.

It was rough. Uneven. He’ll be the first to tell you that.

Then life happened. He put the hammer down for a while.

Four years ago, he picked it back up. And he hasn’t stopped since.

Look at that first blade next to what he makes today. Same hands. Same fire. Completely different level.

That’s not talent. That’s time. That’s showing up at the forge again and again until the steel starts listening to you.

John’s held a lot of knives in his life.

But the ones from Heritage Knives are different.

“Two brothers started this shop 30 years ago,” he says. “Just them, a forge, and steel.”

One of those brothers isn’t here anymore. But you can still feel him in every blade that comes out of that shop.

The next generation picked up the hammer. Same fire. Same standard. Same name.

That’s not something you buy off a shelf. That’s something you inherit.

Our production line starts on a machine. The steel is cut with precision. Then it comes to our hands. We grind it. We sharpen it. We finish it right.

Our custom line starts with fire.

Every blade is hammered on the anvil. Shaped by hand. No machine touches it. Just heat, steel, and time.

Both are built to last. Both carry our name. The only question is how much of the process you want to watch happen in front of you.
