VIRGINIA BEACH — Rudee Inlet needs to be dredged again, but for large vessels to pull sand from the busy Oceanfront waterway, Capt. Rick Bruton and his crew of the derrick Elizabeth have been replacing pilings and a floating dock.

Scott Mason, our Tar Heel Traveler, is on the Outer Banks this week, enjoying the last summer days before Labor Day. One of the top attractions for beach goers and, especially fishermen, is Jennette's Pier.
