Congratulations to Dillon Wilking, Control Panel Lead in the Masaba Panel Shop, on officially becoming a Master Electrician! 👏

Reaching the Master Electrician level takes years of hands-on experience, training, and technical knowledge, and we’re proud to see Dillon reach this milestone.

For Masaba, having a Master Electrician on our team strengthens the knowledge and leadership available to our entire electrical crew, from our journeymen to our apprentices as they continue developing their skills and experience.

Our electrical team plays a role throughout the entire manufacturing process. From building control panels and wiring equipment to installing, maintaining, and troubleshooting the machinery throughout our facilities that helps us build that equipment, their expertise keeps a lot of things moving behind the scenes.

Happy Monday!

Structural steel takes shape long before it reaches the welding bay. This week, we’re highlighting our Voortman VB630M Saw & VB1050 Drill and the role it plays in preparing material for fabrication.

With 60' of infeed and 60' of outfeed, this setup allows us to process I-beams, tube, and other structural material up to 44" x 20". The drill handles hole sizes from 7/16" to 1-9/16", while the saw features a 2.125" x 31' blade with the ability to make a range of miter cuts.

By combining drilling and sawing in one processing line, we can take raw structural steel and prepare it for the next stages of production right here in-house.

It’s another part of our fabrication capabilities that supports both the heavy-duty equipment we build at Masaba and contract manufacturing projects for our customers.

What’s in the Shop this Wednesday? 👀

This week’s lineup shows just how much variety moves through our production floor. A crushing plant, portable bins, a conveyor, and a feeder are all taking shape, each built to handle a different part of the material handling process.

From feeding and conveying to crushing and storage, there’s a lot happening under one roof.

Happy Monday!

This week, we're putting the pressure on with a closer look at our press brake capabilities inside the Harold Higman Fabrication Center.

Our three TRUMPF TruBend press brakes give us the flexibility to form everything from smaller parts to larger, heavy-duty components. Our 250-ton TruBend 5230 and 350-ton TruBend 5320 each feature a 167" bed and 6-axis back gauge, while our 40-ton TruBend 7036 provides a smaller 40" bed for parts that don't require the capacity of the larger machines.

Together, these machines allow us to bend and form parts for Masaba equipment while also supporting a growing range of contract manufacturing projects.

And we're not stopping at three. A fourth and fifth press brake are on the way, adding even more capacity to take on what's next.

Cut. Bend. Build. Repeat.

There’s no substitute for seeing an operation firsthand.

Members of Masaba’s sales, marketing, and engineering teams recently joined our dealer, ICM Solutions, LLC, for an end-user site visit in Utah. The visit gave our team the opportunity to see equipment at work, learn more about the operation, capture new photo and video content, and hear directly from those working with the equipment every day.

Getting our teams into the field provides valuable insight that we can bring back to everything from engineering and sales support to the way we share our equipment and its applications.

Happy Monday!

Two 24kW lasers. 287 pallet locations. One automated system built to keep steel moving.

Inside the Harold Higman Fabrication Center, our two TRUMPF TruLaser 5040 24kW fiber lasers work in sync with our STOPA automated sheet storage system to move material from storage to cutting with less handling and greater efficiency.

Each laser features a 6' x 12' cutting bed with the capability to cut material up to 2.3" thick. LiftMaster Compact automation handles loading and unloading, while EdgeLine Bevel and our thick sheet cutting package expand what we can do with each part.

Feeding those lasers is our STOPA system, featuring 12 towers with 287 pallet locations, two load/unload carts and two unload stations. Each storage location can handle up to 5.5 tons of material.

And here's the important part: we aren't just using these capabilities to build Masaba equipment.

Through Masaba Metals, we're putting this technology, capacity and experience to work for contract manufacturing customers, too.

Celebrating 36 years of dedication to Masaba!

During our Q2 Company Meeting, we had the opportunity to recognize two longtime team members as they begin their well-earned retirement.

Al retires after 20 years in Assembly, and Jack after 16 years as a Welder. Throughout their careers, both have played an important role in the work we do, sharing their experience, craftsmanship, and commitment with those around them.

We’re grateful for the many years Al and Jack dedicated to and the impact they’ve made along the way.

Congratulations, Al and Jack! Thank you for everything you’ve done, and we wish you both the very best in retirement!

Happy Monday!

This week, we’re taking a closer look at our TRUMPF TruLaser Tube 7000, a 6kW tube laser that has been part of our fabrication capabilities since 2024.

Built to process a variety of structural profiles, the tube laser can handle material up to 0.55" thick, with capacity for round tube up to 10" in diameter and square tube up to 7.8". With a 40' infeed and 27' outfeed, it gives us the ability to process long material while completing precise cuts, holes, slots, and other features directly on the machine.

Profile detection, seam and tube alignment, and an unload conveyor help keep material moving efficiently from raw steel to finished parts.

And we’re not done adding capability. Another tube laser will be joining the Masaba Metals floor in the coming months, giving us even more capacity to keep steel moving through production.

More capabilities. More capacity. More to come.
