How I Dial In Precision Narrow Rips on the Table Saw

Ever try to dial in a really narrow rip on your table saw by nudging the fence back and forth? It can be frustrating trying to get that cut just right. There's a better way!

In this video, I’ll show you how I use an inexpensive thin rip jig to make precise, repeatable cuts with millimeter accuracy. By using a gauge block to index the fence instead of making tiny adjustments by hand, I can sneak up on the exact dimension I need.

I’ll walk you through my process, including setting the gauge, adjusting the fence in 1.5 mm increments, and making a custom step-off gauge that fits snugly into the dadoes of my Smart Cabinets. It's a simple technique that takes the guesswork out of precision woodworking.

Sometimes, a small change makes a good system even better. In this video, I’m sharing an update to the Paulk Smart Cradle that improves the design while lowering the cost of parts.

By rerouting the vacuum hose to eliminate a 90-degree turn, we’ve created a more direct path for better airflow and a cleaner setup. It’s a simple change, but that’s the kind of improvement I’m always looking for—better performance, fewer hassles, and less wasted money.

That’s what building a smarter, more efficient woodworking shop is all about!

CNC vs. Parf Guide: Is Your Workbench Really Accurate?
