The word maison conveys, by definition, it means “house” in French. Maison Surface uses the word in that same spirit.

Some mornings begin with an alarm.

Blue prefers coffee.

Handcrafted tessera by tessera, Blue’s morning ritual emerges through layers of light, shadow, texture, and stone.

Antique Blanc, Crema Capri and Thassos create the warmth and dimension of his coat. Emperador Light and Emperador Dark shape its natural depth, while Pewter Gris and Nero Marquina define those unmistakable eyes—and the expression of a dog who clearly hasn’t had enough coffee yet.

DOES SCALE MATTER?

In mosaics? Absolutely.

Too large, and the pattern enters the room before you do.
Too small, and its rhythm can disappear entirely.

At Maison, scale is one of the most important decisions we make when designing a room.

Willow’s sculptural curves can be enlarged to create a bold architectural statement—or reduced to produce a more delicate, continuous rhythm. The design remains Willow, but its relationship with the space changes completely.

A powder room, shower, entryway and swimming pool may share the same pattern, but they should not necessarily share the same scale.

We study the room’s dimensions, sightlines and application, then maximize or minimize the repeat so the mosaic feels intentionally designed for the architecture surrounding it.

Don’t simply select a mosaic.

Measure the room.
Consider the repeat.
Scale it to belong.
Then fall in love.

Meet Isabel: geometry with a soul.

From Maison Surface’s Uniek Tunis collection, Isabel brings circles, half-circles and measured lines into a composition that feels collected rather than constructed.

The pattern is graphic, but never hard. Its softly worn surface and natural tonal movement allow it to settle into a room with the quiet confidence of something discovered over time.

Hand-cut from Pedra and Durum Tunis stone, Isabel balances pale mineral structure with warm, earthen variation. Each 15 × 9 in. unit is ¼ in. thick and yields 0.94 sq. ft.—a precisely scaled architectural mosaic designed to move beautifully across floors, feature walls, bath walls, kitchen backsplashes, entries, fireplace surrounds and stair risers where project specifications permit.

Houndstooth brings the rhythm of the broken check and measured repeat into Simplicity, a white-on-white composition crafted with the precision of a perfectly cut garment—graphic across a room, tactile up close.

What gives Simplicity its character?

Two stones, two finishes. Polished Calacatta reflects and moves light, while tumbled Thassos softens the composition with tactile depth.
