Matcek Sawmill Mobile Sawmill, Kiln, rough sawn lumber, mantels, live edge, slabs, 25'' Planer, Franklin, Texas Matcek Sawmill Company was established in April of 2013.

The ideal actually began way before that on a towboat on the Mississippi River. As a Captain on a tugboat for the largest tank barge company in the US, I began to build cedar chests in my down time. Cedar trees were cut and milled off our small ranch and brought back to the boats. When my local sawyer closed, my wife and I made the decision to buy our own Woodmizer LT35 manual portable sawmill. We started sawing for ourselves and doing custom sawing for others. Matcek Sawmill Company was born. Three part time employees including my son and nephew were added to help out. In 2015 a new 2100 sf. building was erected to meet our needs. The beginning of 2017 is an exciting time for us and big changes are in progress. A new Wood-mizer LT40 Hydraulic Mill replaced the smaller slower model. The new mill allows us to cut logs 36”x 21’. Being hydraulic, it loads the logs onto mill. Which is beneficial to our customers who have no means to load the logs at their locations. The new mill has a shingle and lapside attachment that allow us to make roofing and siding materials. The Lathe-Mizer attachment allows us to produce columns or post with 3, 4, 6, or 8 sides or perfectly round. By early spring a KD150 kiln system will be complete. By summer 2017, we will have in place a wood-master 3 sided planer system that will allow us to produce various types of molding as well as tongue & groove flooring. Our goal is to be a complete sawmill company. Check us out.
