The first new print at Sobeys, as presented by past President and Auxiliary member Jeanne Lindsay, is entitled “The Train Station“ by Nova Scotian folk Artist Maud Lewis. This print would depict a typical scene at any small town train station at that time as the people are dressed in period clothing and the train has it’s cloud of black smoke overhead. Lewis used bright colours in her paintings and subjects were often outdoor scenes including flowers or animals.

The second print is entitled “Taylor Swift Playing Guitar”. This is fully licensed print featuring Taylor Swift performing during her “Fearless” set live at one of her “Era’s” tour concerts. A silver LP is also visible in this collectable print.

The print at Boston Pizza is entitled “Living on the Edge“ by Jeff Stephenson.

The print at Canadian Tire is entitled “Black Sabbath “.

The print at the Kincardine Hospital is entitled “Lake and Mountains” by Group of Seven artist Lawren Harris.

The print at Rona is entitled “Route 66 Historic Highway Museum”.

The starting bid for all the prints is $215.00 and they are on display until Thursday, October 22, 2026.

🌶️ **Calling all chili lovers!** 🌶️

Our Auxiliary is gearing up for another **Chili Cook-Off Fundraiser**, and we need your help! 🥄❤️

We’re looking for volunteers willing to share their favourite **chili recipe** and provide a batch for our cook-off. Whether your recipe is classic, spicy, smoky, vegetarian, or a closely guarded family secret—we’d love to have you join us! 😉

Every ticket sold helps raise funds to **purchase much-needed equipment for our hospital**, so your delicious contribution can make a real difference.

👩‍🍳 **Can you help us fill a pot?**
Please reach out to the Auxiliary by texting the number in the poster below if you’d like to participate or have questions.

Let’s make this year’s cook-off another tasty success! 🌶️❤️

Time for a bit of Auxiliary mystery and history!

When you look at this picture, do you know what it is?

It’s a hospital bed pad! Up until the early 1960’s, our local hospital auxiliary volunteers would take plain cotton sheets, then line them with newspaper, add a plastic sheet, and then sew it into a pad that would then be used to protect mattresses and bedding from moisture, fluids, and stains while supporting patient comfort and hygiene. Needless to say, these pads were single use only, so our auxiliary volunteers must have been quite busy sewing many of these to meet patient needs back in the day. Times may have changed, but our volunteers are at the heart of what we do: supporting health care in our community!

I learned something new today. I hope you did too! Thank you to Donna Mowry, a long time Kincardine Hospital auxiliary member, who brought this at our most recent meeting, to share this fascinating story about our history!
