We recently had the pleasure of hosting Sean and Savannah from Greg's Custard Mundelein , Illinois. They spent some time with us in the shop for Q&A, conversation, and running their custom mix through the Lancaster Manufacturing CK100.

Visits like this mean a lot to us — every operator brings their own experience, questions, and perspective, and we learn just as much from them as they do from us.
Always great to connect with people who care about quality and the craft.

On the fastcasual.com website, there's news of a lawsuit aimed at Starbucks arguing that the phrase sugar-free is misleading consumers. Naturally they argue it isn't as they post information about sugar content on promotional material and their website. I don't know why they didn't just use the phrase no sugar added which is more honest.

Reading the phrase sugar-free has a different connotation to no sugar added to a discerning consumer. I'm sure Starbucks would like to think all their customers are discerning, I know we think our customers are pretty smart too.

It's pleasing to see that our customer group is by and large optimistic. Costs are rising and while it's great they're optimistic, there are challenges. We've heard first-hand about some of those problems in the frozen dessert industry and have been working on a number of ideas to help.

This week we're mailing out introductions to our new Shopify store for custard machine parts We're also letting people know of our machine diagnosis and refurbishment programs.

At the same time, we're finalizing an agreement with a leasing company to provide options for financing equipment that helps directly with the cash flow concerns mentioned in the article.

All this and great frozen custard too.

A survey reveals that a percentage of restaurant owner/operators are optimistic, even in the face of rising costs and concerns over replacing equipment.
