It all starts with experience. An original pioneer in the nascent technology of HDD, StraightLine launched its first directional drill in 1989. Over the next several years, StraightLine fielded nearly nearly one thousand drills. During those formative years, we spent thousands of hours demonstrating, watching and learning.
As rig capabilities rapidly advanced, down-hole tooling technology simply failed to keep up. Our field-specialists and engineers responded to the lack of tooling by creating their own. By late 1991, StraightLine began directing more resouces to filling an obvious need for cutting edge tooling, culminating with the launch of two reamer designs in 1992.
The move was the first step in a process that would soon culminate with the company changing it path to exclusively focus on building HDD tooling. Twenty years later, the StraightLine HDD brand is widely recognized for its 17,000 part-strong tool portfolio, covering Ditch Witch®, Vermeer®, and all major rig brands. Along with the industry’s deepest inventory of "in-stock" items, StraightLine maintains a potent and nimble custom HDD solutions team. In a bid to further expand its offering, StraightLine HDD, Inc. merged with Source: HDD, Inc. in 2015. The combination came at a time when HDD operators—facing fierce competition and rising costs—began favoring suppliers who could deliver solutions across the entire range of HDD operations. Combining the resources of a highly respected seller of Ready-To-Work used rigs and equipment with StraightLine’s tooling, the merger came as a direct response to this trend.
