Power Flow Systems, Inc. Power Flow Systems is the leading designer and manufacturer of FAA approved Tuned Exhaust Systems. Power Flow Systems, Inc. was founded in 1997 by Robin Thomas.

Mr. Thomas is also the president of Laminar Flow Systems, Inc. which developed and manufactures speed modifications for Piper PA 28, 32 & 34 aircraft. Power Flow's first FAA STC approval was in March of 1999 on the C172 with the Lycoming O-320 engine. This approval was for the very distinctive 'external' tailpipe design. With this design, dynamometer data showed that this allowed the engine to produce 23.75 more horsepower than the factory equipped exhaust! Additional benefits include more torque, shorter takeoff distance, higher rates of climb and faster cruise speeds or a fuel savings at current speeds. Power Flow has expanded to other popular Lycoming O-320 and O-360 aircraft. This includes fixed gear C177, the Grumman AA5 series, Piper PA28's, Mooney 4 cylinders, Beechcraft 19/23 series and Glastar/Sportsman experimental aircraft. Power Flow exhaust systems are made of all stainless steel components and feature slip joints for improved durability. The exhaust system is designed to require no modifications to the engine, though some aircraft models may require minor changes to the cowl. The exhaust system generally installs in less than one day. Installing a Power Flow exhaust is similar to installing a bigger engine but at a fraction of the cost, with faster installation and without the increased fuel burn. All exhausts have a 60 day, money back guarantee and are warranted for 1 year or 500 tach hours, whichever occurs first. In early 2005, Power Flow obtained FAA approval for a new 'short-stack' exhaust. This popular option offers similar benefits but with less “distinctive” looks. Power Flow developed an exhaust for the Diamond DA-40 aircraft and as of August 2006, our exhaust is factory standard equipment on the DA40 XL aircraft. We plan on expanding into the larger Continental engines as used on the Bonanza and 182 series as well as developing a new exhaust system for the popular RV series of homebuilt aircraft.

Power Flow Systems does dynamic prop balances! Local customer flew in to check the balance post engine overhaul with an initial IPS of .597, we’re currently at .034. We recommend keeping the prop within dynamic balance every few years or after any engine overhauls, cylinder changes, or prop work.
