Why do so many classic truck doors become difficult to close after new weather seals are installed?

It's one of the most common issues we encounter.

A builder spends countless hours aligning doors, fenders, and body lines. Everything looks great. Then new weather stripping goes on and suddenly:

• The door requires more force to close
• The release button becomes stiff
• The latch feels difficult to operate
• The door springs outward when opened

The latch is often blamed first, but in many cases the real issue is weather seal compression and door fitment.

In fact, the problem became so common in the restoration industry that some weather seal manufacturers began offering thinner "half-size" seals to help reduce excessive door pressure.
