Me, in #10, July 1990. That was my first bike race. Shop t-shirt, sneakers, V1 Pro, and terrible hair, as it should be. When this issue came out, I was at the Tour de France by happenstance, but that's a different story. The issue was waiting for me on the counter at NorthEnd Cyclery in Virginia Beach when I got back to work, and I was so psyched. Mountain biking was getting mainstream, and I was a product of that, to be honest, but Dirt Rag kept our little corner of it feeling like a community. You opened the pages and saw friends, and Maurice and co. kept that feeling for decades, even as they grew and the sport changed. I'll miss it. Thank you.
