4th Bin provides ethical and secure electronic waste recycling, data destruction, and IT asset management to businesses of all sizes. The only E-Stewards-certified E-waste recycler in New York
City, 4th Bin adheres to strict federal regulations to ensure that your e-waste is eliminated legally, safely, and with absolutely minimal environmental impact. There are many serious risks when it comes to managing and decommissioning equipment, but there are also hidden opportunities. E-recycling is not always about removing waste. When you share your inventory with us, 4th Bin will also evaluate your electronics equipment and determine an optimal time to buy your equipment back before it becomes waste.

It’s Climate Week NYC, and while there’s a lot of conversation happening around the future of our planet, we’re thinking about something a little closer to home: the technology sitting on our desks.

Laptops, phones, servers, monitors and other electronics don’t just disappear when we’re done with them. They have materials, energy and resources built into them, and what happens at the end of their useful life matters.

At 4THBIN, we believe responsible e-waste management is one small but important part of the bigger sustainability picture. Keeping electronics in use when possible, recovering valuable materials, and making sure e-waste is handled responsibly all help move us toward a more circular approach to technology.

And, of course, doing it securely. Because sustainability shouldn’t come at the expense of data security.

Climate action is a big conversation. We’re proud to play our part in it, one device at a time.

NYC, ready to clear out your old electronics?

The first Fall 2026 community e-waste recycling events are happening tomorrow, September 19, with collection events at Howard Beach Library and Mt. Loretto.

4THBIN is proud to partner with the The Lower East Side Ecology Center to help New Yorkers responsibly recycle unwanted electronics throughout the fall.

From laptops and phones to monitors, printers, cables and more, these free community events make it easy to keep electronics out of the waste stream and give valuable materials a chance to be recovered.

What if your old IT equipment could put money back in your pocket?

The loss of valuable resources through improper e-waste handling points to a bigger opportunity: there’s value in retired technology that shouldn’t be overlooked.

Through IT Asset Disposition, 4THBIN helps businesses identify equipment with remaining resale value, then test, refurbish, and remarket those assets through vetted channels.

And the opportunity is significant. An estimated $62 billion in recoverable natural resources is lost each year due to improper e-waste handling.

That means your end-of-life technology can have a second life and potentially generate a return on your original investment.

Don’t just dispose of your old IT. Recover what it’s worth.

A smarter school year starts with smarter technology management.

As schools welcome students back, new devices and technology upgrades often mean older IT equipment is being retired. What happens to those devices next matters, especially when they contain sensitive student, staff, and institutional data.

Responsible IT Asset Disposition (ITAD) helps schools securely manage retired technology, protect data, recover value from reusable assets, and keep electronics out of landfills.

Our latest news page explores why ITAD deserves a place on every school’s back-to-school technology checklist.

Your retired IT assets could be worth more than you think.

IT Asset Disposition (ITAD) is about more than securely getting rid of end-of-life technology. Done right, it protects sensitive data, supports environmental responsibility, and helps businesses recover the remaining value in their IT investments.

At 4THBIN, reusable assets can be tested, refurbished, and remarketed through our vetted network of retail and wholesale channels, helping our clients maximize potential returns while keeping security and sustainability at the forefront.

From large-scale technology refreshes to data center liquidations, we make ITAD secure, responsible, and valuable.

Did you know that recycling 1 million cell phones can recover:

• 35,274 lbs of copper
• 772 lbs of silver
• 75 lbs of gold
• 33 lbs of palladium

The devices we use every day contain valuable materials that can be recovered and put back into use instead of ending up in landfills. Responsible electronics recycling helps conserve natural resources, supports the circular economy, and reduces the environmental impact of mining new raw materials.

At 4THBIN, we help organizations securely and sustainably manage retired IT assets through certified electronics recycling and data destruction because protecting your data and protecting the planet can go hand in hand.

The Knicks finally brought a championship back to New York.

Meanwhile, that laptop from 2016 is still hanging onto a roster spot.

Every successful team knows that progress requires change. The same is true for technology. Holding onto retired devices long after they've left the game can create unnecessary security, compliance, and operational risks.

Maybe it's time for some offseason moves.
