✨ Careers in Consulting Mood Board ✨

Consulting is about more than just giving advice. It is an opportunity to solve problems, think critically, and help people and organizations navigate challenges. Consultants come from a variety of academic backgrounds and bring different perspectives, experiences, and areas of expertise to their work. A career in consulting allows you to build skills in communication, research, collaboration, and problem-solving while exploring a wide range of industries and career paths.

Whether you’re interested in business, technology, healthcare, education, social issues, or public policy, consulting offers opportunities to apply what you learn in the classroom to real-world challenges and make a meaningful impact.

Musketeers accomplish some amazing things, and the Career Development Office is excited to highlight the accomplishments, experiences, and advice of our students and alumni with ! ✨

Tylen Gordon is a junior at Xavier University majoring in Musical Theatre and Pre-Medicine. With interests in both the performing arts and healthcare, Tylen hopes to pursue opportunities in theatre after graduation before attending medical school. Tylen is especially interested in neurology and exploring ways to incorporate music therapy into medical practice.

One of Tylen’s favorite Xavier memories is returning to the stage for the first time. After feeling disconnected from theatre, getting back on stage brought back a passion that had been missing since high school. Tylen has also gained valuable experience working at OSU East Hospital in Columbus, where opportunities to shadow physicians and connect with healthcare professionals have helped clarify future career goals.

When asked what advice Tylen would give Xavier students exploring their major or career, Tylen encourages students to never box themselves in. Tylen emphasizes taking time to explore different options, talking with advisors about personal goals, and building connections with professors. Tylen also highlights the importance of networking and mentorship, encouraging students to look for opportunities both on and off campus.

✨ Sociology Careers Mood Board ✨

Sociology is about more than just studying society. It is an opportunity to understand how people interact, how communities function, and how social structures shape our everyday lives. A degree in Sociology helps students develop critical thinking, communication, and research skills while learning to look at the world from different perspectives. These skills can open doors to careers in social services, human resources, education, community outreach, research, and so much more.

Whether you’re interested in understanding social behavior, exploring inequality, or learning how communities can create meaningful change, sociology encourages you to think critically about the world around you and how you can make a difference in it.
