We’ve offered air as well as conventional kiln drying for years and are pleased to announce we now offer vacuum kiln drying. Vacuum kilns help cut down drying time, normally taking a week to 10 days per inch thickness. There are several advantages to vacuums kilns, including: straighter, flatter lumber; less stressed lumber and better color retention.

*While the vacuum kiln is now an option for our customers we must remind you that air drying is necessary before they are ready to be put in the kiln so for timely projects planning is still important.

**So why is drying your material so important? If you’re using green(freshly cut) wood then it has a high moisture content and as it dries it will begin to shrink and harden, if the wood is used in things like cabinetry or housing then it will continue to shrink once it’s in a stable environment, this can lead to cracking or warping of the wood. To avoid putting time and effort into your project only to have it warp or crack we recommend drying. We’d love to offer our services to make sure your projects turn out the best they can be!
