According to the Magnuson-Moss Warranty Act—specifically 15 U.S.C. §2302(c)—if you’re given a warranty, the terms must be clear and fair. That means manufacturers can’t force you to spend extra money by requiring you to buy additional products or services from a specific dealer unless those services are offered for free. The goal of this law is to protect you as a consumer so you’re not stuck with limited options or unexpected expenses.

Remember to always read the fine print on your warranty documents. If you see any conditions that seem like they’re tying you to a dealer for extra purchases, know that you have rights, and laws are in place to keep things fair.
