Meet Our Trainees!

This week, we say goodbye to Daniel, a high school intern, and Sakura from NEXCO HQ, who both brought great energy during their time with us.

We also welcome Hajime, who arrived last week from Japan and will be with us for two months.

Our trainee from Ecuador treated the team to traditional dishes from his hometown—including delicious homemade ceviche! It was a wonderful way to share his culture with us.

Today, we would like to introduce a team member who lives outside the United States. Marlon Pacaji, who previously worked in our office in Virginia, now lives in his home country, , and continues to work for our company as an . He shared, "NEXCO is a place where I feel welcomed, and I know we can support each other, even with those who work remotely like myself."

These young professionals are our new civil engineer trainees from Japan. Yoshi Inoue (right) shared, "Working in the US has exposed me to cutting-edge technology and innovative work styles, offering new insights and flexible communication methods." Nori Mimura (left) added, "Attending TRB provided insights into the latest industry technologies, and hands-on training helped me learn pavement research and crack analysis for our clients." Hopefully, they will broaden their experiences and bring valuable knowledge back to Japan.

We hosted a Christmas Ping Pong "Hi-Chew" Cup in the rec room of our building. All of our team members are skilled ping pong players, so the matches were intense and exciting. We played doubles, and this team emerged as the champions! 🎉

We're excited to welcome three talented trainees from Japan to our team! Over the past few weeks, they’ve been diving into the differences between civil engineering practices in the U.S. and Japan, exploring infrastructure inspection and maintenance methods, as well as experiencing our work culture firsthand. Their fresh perspectives and enthusiasm have brought a renewed energy to our office, and we’re thrilled to share knowledge and grow together!

We are excited to welcome two civil engineer trainees from Osaka, Japan. Mai, on the right, will be with us for three months, and Toru, on the left, will be here for three weeks. Both are eager to learn about our business and experience American culture.

InfraTechCon in Japan : Where students tackle real-world infrastructure challenges. From creative ideas to industry challenges, it's a platform for innovation and problem-solving. Just like in the US, Canada, and other countries, Japan is also grappling with a shortage of civil engineers. Technical school students have proposed innovative ideas that could potentially attract young student to the field, such as developing a smartphone app to facilitate hands-on site visits with construction companies.
