Tech tip. Aftermath of a mud race. Looked clean from what I could see. Pulled the forks guards off and this is what was hiding. One lap around the track and I’d have a fork seal leak from the dried on mud. Pull the dust seals and clean under them as well.

This is why they peen the threads on your suspension out of the factory and why you use red loctite during assembly. Both sides were loose, not optimum for performance.

Size matters... pay attention to the fork guard bolts. Using too long of bolts in the blind holes against the fork tube ...

Size matters... pay attention to the fork guard bolts. Using too long of bolts in the blind holes against the fork tube can crush the tube and lock the spring in place. This is very difficult to fix and may the fork leg may need to be replaced.

In this case the short (center pictured) bolt needs to go in the blind hole.
