At Trelleborg Medical Solutions, Tustin, CA, we believe that giving back to the community is not just a responsibility but a privilege. Recently, our team came together to volunteer at the Jessie Rees Foundation’s Joy Factory in Irvine, California. During the afternoon, we worked side by side, assembling JoyJars®—bright, cheerful jars filled with toys, games, and other surprises-with the purpose of bringing moments of happiness to children battling cancer.
The Jessie Rees Foundation was inspired by Jessie Rees, a brave 12-year-old who, even while battling cancer, dedicated herself to encouraging others with her message: Never Ever Give Up (NEGU). Today, her legacy lives on through the foundation’s mission to support and uplift children with cancer and their families. The JoyJars® are one way the foundation shares Jessie’s message.
During our visit, we focused on stuffing jars for boys and girls ages 3 to 5 years old. Our team thoughtfully packed each jar with items designed to bring joy, comfort, and a reminder to these children that they are loved and supported. We worked with purpose while we were there. Every item added to a jar represented a small but powerful way to brighten a child’s day.
This experience brought our team closer together and allowed us to reflect on how small acts of kindness can make a big difference. Knowing that these jars would soon be in the hands of 100 children facing such significant challenges reminded us why it’s so important to step outside of our daily routines and focus on others.
We are incredibly grateful to the Jessie Rees Foundation for allowing us to participate in their mission. Their dedication to spreading joy and encouragement is truly inspiring. For those who want to learn more or get involved, we encourage you to visit NEGU.org.
Through this experience, our team left with full hearts and a renewed commitment to living by Jessie’s words: Never Ever Give Up. Together, we can help spread hope and joy where it’s needed most.
