We're proud to have played a role in bringing the new fishing pier at McFarland Park in Florence to life! As a subcontractor for Bubba's Marine Construction, we helped deliver a project the whole community can enjoy.

The expanded pier on the west end of the park overlooks the Tennessee River and features 45 parking spaces, picnic tables, benches, and a roundabout entrance. It replaces a pier that was closed in 2022 due to structural concerns.

The pier is expected to officially open around the July 4 Spirit of Freedom Festival. We can't wait to see the Florence community enjoy this beautiful gathering place for years to come!

Today we celebrated the retirement of Mr. Gene Smith and what a legacy he leaves behind.

Mr. Gene spent over 30 years as a truck driver, including the last 5 and a half years with CG Jones. Many of you know him as the guy who never stopped working. Rain or shine, if something needed to be done, he was already doing it sweeping, mowing, washing trucks, whatever it took.

He didn’t do it for recognition. He did it because that’s who he is.

That kind of work ethic sets a standard, and that’s exactly what Mr. Gene did for all of us.

To honor that, we’re introducing the **Gene Smith “Standard” Award**, given each year to the employee who best represents that same drive, humility, and willingness to do whatever it takes.

Mr. Gene, thank you for everything. Enjoy retirement, you’ve earned it.
