TORNADO UPGRADE FOR PARTS OF OKLAHOMA
The latest SPC outlook has upgraded parts of central and eastern Oklahoma to a Moderate Risk for severe storms today.
The main concern will be storms developing after 3 PM, especially near the warm front and dryline. Any storm that can stay isolated and surface-based could quickly become a powerful supercell.
Threats today include:
Large to giant hail
Damaging winds
Tornadoes
A few strong tornadoes possible
SPC specifically mentions the potential for intense supercells, very large hail up to 2–4 inches or larger, and a threat for a few EF-2+ tornadoes this evening.
This is one of those days where the tornado threat is conditional early, but if storms go, they could become dangerous quickly.
Have multiple ways to get warnings today and stay weather aware. MCWX will be watching it closely.
