Wiemann Metalcraft Wiemann Metalcraft is a full service ornamental metal fabricator serving an international client base since 1940. HubZone Certified.

Since our founding in Tulsa Oklahoma in 1940 as a humble blacksmith and fabrication shop, we have successfully completed challenging projects on time and on budget in residential, commercial, religious, public, institutional and government locations in almost all 50 States and international locations. Our work includes: ornamental stair and balcony railings, canopies and awnings, monumental stairs, decorative driveway and pedestrian gates, walkway gates, fences, custom hot rolled steel doors and windows, bronze entry doors, gazebos and trellises and other ornamental garden structures, site furnishings, wrought iron furniture and much more.

Old world craftsmanship. New world technology.
For a private residence in Houston, Texas, Wiemann Metalcraft engineered and fabricated a bronze and powder-coated steel balustrade for an elliptical entry stair: 86 balusters and a turned bronze newel post.
What looks like one repeating baluster is actually eight different elements. Each is shaped to meet the handrail at its own angle and carry the gentle circular curve from the first tread to the landing gallery.
3D modeling made it possible. Every baluster was mapped in plan, modeled in 3D and detailed for the shop. Steel and bronze thread together on concealed rod, so nothing shows but the finish.

Some projects are easier than others. Creek's End wasn't one of them, and that is what made it worth doing.

This project in Zionsville, Indiana, kept our shop working through the height of COVID and challenged us in every way a good project should.

McNicholas Architects of Chicago designed a traditional entry. Wiemann built and installed it, including:

An 8-by-16-foot bi-parting drive gate, each 8 inches thick
A top rail of custom-cast medallions and 6-by-6-inch custom finials
Heavy-duty pivot hinges anchored to steel embeds cast into the pillars and footings
A matching walk gate and 84 feet of fence rolled to a gentle curve
High-gloss black powder coat, applied with the panels fully assembled

In-ground operators and access control keep the mechanics out of sight.

Final install in a pouring rain. Still sharp today.

We’re excited to attend the upcoming Association for Preservation Technology International conference in Indianapolis. Here’s a throwback to a preservation project in the nation’s capital that shows great historic preservation is in the details.

From the archives: The John A. Logan House, 4 Logan Circle, Washington, D.C.
Civil War general and Senator John A. Logan made this 1878 house his home in the 1880s. When it was restored, its original Steamboat Gothic balcony castings were crated up and shipped to our shop in Tulsa. We used them as patterns to recast the railing, brackets, cresting and column trim, then added a new cast iron fence, a cast aluminum drive gate and widow's walk cresting.
The house was finished in 2011, and it still looks right at home next to the 19th-century photos of the circle.

🥴 Apologies for the dizzying tour, but we're just so excited to reach a major milestone with this residential project and there is A LOT of ground to cover.
Solid brass handrails throughout this home of distinction have been painstakingly fabricated by Wiemann's craftsmen and the install is underway. The rails encircle a central elevator shaft from a basement to a second floor, giving a solid, elegant handhold for the owners and their guests. We can't wait for the finish line!

This week we say "au revoir" to our blacksmith apprentice Niel. A participant in the esteemed Compagnons du Devoir apprenticeship program, his year is up and he returns to France.
With his solid work ethic, positive attitude, and true talent in the shop, he has made his mark on everyone. He's managed to have a little fun along the way, too, (he says a highlight was Saint Francis Tulsa Tough Crybaby Hill ) and has experienced the hospitality Tulsa, Oklahoma and the US.
We'll miss him and wish him Bonne Chance!

Wiemann hosted a Tulsa Foundation for Architecture Design Insider event last week at our facilities. Despite some iffy weather, we were thrilled with the turnout and the enthusiastic interest in the history of our company and how our skilled craftsmen create lasting works of art in metal.
Tulsa has an incredibly rich architectural heritage and we are proud our role in it. Thank you to TFA for putting on such diverse programming for everyone to enjoy. Let's do it again!

Wiemann can do complex custom ornamental jobs, but we can also do the big job. Check out this work that shipped recently for a client, destined for the Indianapolis Convention Center.
The center is undergoing a major refurb and Wiemann made 90-plus of these framed mirrors to be installed in restrooms throughout.
They're made of an extruded and welded aluminum frame, powder-coated, assembled with the mirror and a backing material, and also drilled for on-site installation.
