Tuning tip of day: Exhaust headers

Exhaust headers help improve the flow of the exhaust and come in many different shapes & sizes. They alter horsepower and torque in different areas of the power band, you should adjust your air flow tables after adding headers as well as one thing you should look out for while tuning is after adding the headers is you could have false knock. It is sometimes necessary to add o2 sensor extensions when installing headers.

Tuning tip of the day: Power Enrichment

Power enrichment helps keep your engine from detonation by adding additional fuel however many factory calibrations add an excessive amount of fuel for extra safety. By leaning out some of this additional fuel you can maximize your performance and still be in a safe range. You'll want to get your airflow tables dialed in before adjusting Power enrichment and it's highly recommended to do so with a wideband o2 sensor. Some newer vehicles have wideband sensors from the factory but a majority of vehicles have narrowband sensors more on o2 sensors with tomorrow tuning tip of the day!

Check out the the aem wideband that connects as an additional channel through obd2 for anyone using a tuning device without external inputs.

Tuning tip of the day: manifold absolute pressure (map)

Adding Boost?

A manifold absolute pressure sensor measures how much pressure is present in the intake manifold. a naturally aspirated vehicle typically comes with a map sensor that can read up to 1 bar or around atmospheric pressure (14.5 pounds). going wide open throttle in a naturally aspirated vehicle you reach values pretty close to 14.5 psi or 100 kpa. so if your adding any boost you will need to add a 2 or 3 bar map sensor. map sensors are typically located on the intake manifold.

Tuning tip of the day: mass air flow sensor(maf)

The mass airflow sensor measures how much air is flowing in between the air filter and throttle body into the engine. It is important to clean the maf before tuning and is a good idea to clean it every few thousand miles to ensure its measuring correctly. It's one of the easiest thing to tune and can yield a positive performance gain by calibrating it even if stock, make sure the maf is also clocked correctly as rotating the maf can alter readings as well. if you're untuned with an aftermarket intake turn the maf sensor to match the factory position to ensure proper readings so your air fuel ratio is correct.
