Experienced Mechanical or Architectural Engineer
Bender Engineering and Construction, Inc. is seeking an experienced mechanical or architectural engineer for full time employment. Bender Engineering and Construction is an established, diversified engineering firm providing residential and commercial mechanical HVAC, plumbing and electrical design, commissioning, HERS verifications, energy audits and general construction. We serve Truckee/Lake Tahoe, Reno, Mammoth Lakes and the Sierra Foothill areas. Candidates should be professional in demeanor and appearance, self-motivated, and personable.
PURPOSE:
Complete HVAC and plumbing design and drafting from schematic design through construction documents and construction administration. Additional tasks may include commissioning field work.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
• Proficient with Microsoft Office products including Excel, Word and Outlook
• HVAC and plumbing design
• Able to work in the field to complete commissioning pre-functional checklists
• Able to create design documents with Revit
• Able to work well with others and manage/train subordinate staff members
• Manage and document standard operating procedures
• Proficient with an energy modeling program such as Energy Pro, Trane Trace or Carrier HAP
WORK ENVIRONMENT:
This job operates in an office environment located right on the Truckee river with occasional days in the field for HERS verifications or commissioning of building systems. Bender Engineering is also in the process of opening a satellite office in Sparks, Nevada.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
This position requires the ability to occasionally lift tools and/or equipment up to 30 pounds.
EXPECTED HOURS OF WORK:
This is a full-time exempt salaried position. Typical work hours are Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. with a lunch break; however, this position can include additional hours during heavy workload periods.
SKILLS & QUALIFICATIONS:
• B.S. in engineering
• Minimum five (5) years design experience
• Professional Engineering License in CA or NV or ability to obtain within first 12 months of employment
• Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
• MS Office proficiency (Word, Excel, Outlook).
COMPENSATION & BENEFITS:
• Salary depends on experience – Salary range $70,000 - $100,000 per year
• 401k eligibility with company contribution after 1 year of employment
• 3 paid sick days
• (2) weeks (10 working days) of paid vacation with accrual of (1) day per year for each year of employment with a (4) weeks (20 working days) maximum limit.
• Paid Federal Holidays: Christmas day, New Year’s day, Thanksgiving day and day after, 4th of July, Labor day, Memorial day, Presidents day
• Health insurance monthly stipend
EMPLOYEE GROWTH:
• Bender Engineering supports continuing education via seminars and/or conferences and provides reimbursement of up to $1,000.00 per year or more depending on course content
• ASHRAE membership dues paid by Bender Engineering
