A small detail that pays off: notes pinned directly to the equipment graphic.

This is TU 14 at Woodhaven High School. Live damper position, airflow, discharge temp, zone temp, occupied and unoccupied setpoints. And right below it, a service note: "Actuator Replaced. Heat restored."

Two years from now, when somebody is troubleshooting this same box, that note is still there. That's institutional knowledge that doesn't walk out the door when staff turns over.

Spatial context changes how you triage problems.

This is a VAV floor plan in Kode Labs. Every zone is tagged in place over the architectural rendering, color-coded by alarm state, with live airflow shown directly on the plan. A red zone in the corner office tells you more than the same alarm buried in a list of two hundred.

For an MSI, this is one of the strongest arguments for an analytics layer over a flat equipment tree.
