Another Successful Summer of Interns at IDS!

As summer comes to a close, we’re celebrating another fantastic group of interns who brought fresh ideas, curiosity, and plenty of talent to the IDS team!

This summer, our interns jumped right into real projects across PK-12 and Higher Education, gaining hands-on experience and growing alongside our teams every step of the way. From getting comfortable with Revit and Enscape to joining Lunch & Learns and taking the lead on design work of their own, they embraced every opportunity to learn and contribute.

One intern summed it up perfectly: “Each building is unique and requires deeper levels of problem solving and case study than most realize.” And challenge after challenge, our interns stepped up to the plate.

Beyond the technical skills, what stood out most was the growth in confidence. As another intern reflected, "this team has built my confidence to take on any challenge and design with a purpose." That's exactly the kind of impact we hope every intern walks away with.

That’s what we hope an IDS internship is all about: gaining experience, finding your voice, building confidence, and discovering what it means to Design With Purpose.

To our 2026 interns: thank you for an awesome summer. We’re excited to see where you go next!

This past Sunday, Utica Community Schools officially celebrated the grand opening of the newly transformed Graebner Elementary School!



It was an exciting day filled with students, families, educators, and community members coming together to experience a space designed to support learning, connection, and the future of the Utica community.

We’re proud to have been part of bringing this vision to life alongside Utica Community Schools and our project partners. From thoughtful learning environments to spaces that foster collaboration and belonging, every detail was designed with students and educators at the center.

Congratulations to Utica Community Schools and the entire Graebner Elementary community on this exciting new chapter!

A new era has officially begun at Swinehart Stadium!

We’re proud to have played a part in bringing this exciting new chapter to life for Utica Community Schools and its students, athletes, families, and community. From design to game day, it’s incredibly rewarding to see the vision for this space become a reality.

Thank you to everyone who came out to celebrate the new Swinehart Stadium. We’re excited to see all the memories that will be made here for years to come!

As students return to classrooms across Michigan, we want to recognize the educators, leaders, facilities teams and staff who make the start of a new school year possible.

Opening day reflects months of leadership, preparation and collaboration. From shaping educational priorities to completing summer construction, maintenance and last-minute details, every decision contributes to creating safe, welcoming environments where students and educators can thrive.

At IDS, we design learning environments, but it is the people within them who transform those spaces into dynamic teaching and learning experiences.

We are grateful for the trust of our PK–12 partners and proud to work alongside you in creating intentional environments that connect space with teaching, learning and community.

Today, we celebrated the ribbon cutting of Stadium Hall at Ferris State University!

Our team partnered with Ferris State University to design this four-story, 282-bed residence hall at Top Taggart Field, creating a new student living experience directly overlooking the stadium.

Stadium Hall is a great example of what can happen through beginning-to-end collaboration. Through close partnership with Ferris State University, the project thoughtfully brings together student life, athletics, and campus identity to create a place that strengthens connection and community.

Wolverine Village was designed to bring living, learning and community together, creating spaces that encourage connection, collaboration and engagement beyond the classroom. We’re proud to have contributed to a project that is helping shape a new model for the student experience at the University of Michigan.

The University of Michigan will add 2,300 student beds to Central Campus this month with the opening of Wolverine Village, a new residential community developed around the idea that where students live impacts how well they connect, study and succeed on campus.

Exciting to see the newly rebuilt Swinehart Stadium come to life! We’re proud to have been part of this project and can’t wait to share more from the ribbon cutting.

Utica Community Schools is set to open its newly rebuilt Swinehart Stadium on Sunday after more than a year of construction and nearly $17 million in upgrades funded by a voter-approved bond.
