The Kinetics model SVRS is a heavy industrial, solid state, limited operating range, closed loop regulation, SCR excitation rectifier. The model SVRS is configured with the DC feedback loop closed on the rectifier output voltage. The excitation voltage from the regulated rectifier to the motor field can be adjusted while the is motor running and synchronized via an operator’s control potentiometer. The highly reliable Kinetics regulation controller continuously adjusts the power semi-conductors to maintain the exciter output voltage within +/-1% of the desired DC output voltage. Read more at

Typical components of a brush type motor
excitation system:

Primary disconnect or line protection.
Exciter power isolation transformer (EPT)
Rectifying exciter – regulated or constant potential
Application logic / control. – KinetSync-SR
Method of applying the exciter to the field – contactors or solid state SCR switching interconnected with an SCR regulated rectifier.
Discharge resistor bank.
CT’s & PT’s within the motor starter. (Commonly supplied as part of the motor starter – not with the excitation system)
