The Toyota GR Supra is nearing the end of its production run, but it won’t be leaving the stage quietly. Toyota has confirmed a V8-powered, track-only version of the Supra, set to debut in the 2026 Australian Supercars Championship, where it will take on rivals like the Chevrolet Camaro and Ford Mustang V8.
Under the hood is a reworked 5.0-litre naturally aspirated V8, which is the same all-aluminium quad-cam unit used in the Lexus LC 500, RC F, and Toyota’s Dakar-winning Hilux rally truck. However, the engine has been specially modified for the Supra to suit its race-focused design for the championship.
