Ecosystem Planning and Restoration

Ecosystem Planning and Restoration A certified Small Business providing environmental planning, ecosystem restoration, and water resources to support a sustainable environment.

OUR STORY
Founded in the fall of 2012, Ecosystem Planning and Restoration (EPR) is a small company with a big presence and a singular mission. Our goal is to be a premier ecosystem planning and restoration firm that provides services to support a sustainable environment. We believe that our experience with restoration on a national stage gives us increased ability to evaluate all restoration opt

ions and techniques available, and develop innovative and cost-effective solutions for our clients. The ownership of EPR was structured to represent the core disciplines required in ecosystem restoration: biology, geomorphology, and engineering. ECOSYSTEM RESTORATION
EPR's staff has designed projects throughout the eastern United States, and in the emerging market of the Gulf Coast Region, representing a wide range of conditions and challenges. Our experience is unmatched and includes hundreds of stream and wetland restoration projects, design and construction, development of regional curves and reference reach data sets, and monitoring of past projects to continually advance the science. ENVIRONMENTAL PLANNING
Our environmental planning services assist federal, state, municipal organizations, and private clients with their regulatory compliance needs. We have extensive experience with National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA) and related state regulations. Our staff has expertise in planning, environmental impact assessments, and permitting. We have worked with cities, states, and federal agencies to help all interested parties participate in the planning process.

For the fifth year in a row, the Natural Resources and Planning team at EPR gathered for the “Bio Blitz,” an event that brings staff together from across offices and disciplines to share knowledge, reconnect, and learn more about the wide range of expertise within the company.

As EPR continues to grow, the Bio Blitz helps strengthen collaboration between teams by giving staff the opportunity to hear directly from specialists working in different regions, service areas, and project types. From field techniques and monitoring approaches to regulatory updates and lessons learned, the event helps keep knowledge moving across the company rather than remaining siloed within individual offices or teams.

The event also helps staff better understand who to reach out to for technical support, project coordination, permitting insight, field methodologies, emerging technologies, and region-specific experience. Creating these internal connections strengthens communication across offices, improves efficiency, supports consistency in deliverables, and encourages continued professional growth throughout the company.

By investing in internal knowledge-sharing and collaboration, EPR continues to build a stronger, more connected team capable of delivering thoughtful, science-driven solutions for clients and communities across a wide range of environmental projects.

Not all progress is visible in a single day.

Restoration work takes time; monitoring seasons, adapting designs, and working with natural systems to create lasting results.

At EPR, Earth Day is less about a single moment and more about the long-term commitment behind every project we take on.

We’re proud to support clients and partners in building solutions that work with the environment.

The EPR Houston Office 2026 Chili Cook-Off brought serious flavor and even stronger team spirit. Secret spice blends and bold claims made the competition real, but the highlight was stepping away from the day-to-day to connect.

Strong teams aren’t built only in meetings. They’re built in moments like these, through laughter, friendly rivalry, and shared wins.

Grateful to be part of a team that shows up and supports each other.

EPR is at the Virginia Solar Summit today, connecting with project teams on practical, site-specific approaches to integrating ecological restoration into solar development.

We’re discussing how solar sites can be productive grassland habitat for pollinators, and other species….solar sites offer so much potential.

EPR attendees include:
Kevin Tweedy, Principal Engineer - [email protected] and
Rich Hanson, Environmental Specialist - [email protected]

Stop by to connect with the team.

EPR will be attending the Virginia Solar Summit next week, connecting with project teams on how our approach to ecological restoration can support solar development.

Our work focuses on modeling, planning and integrating nature-based solutions into solar sites in a way that aligns with project goals, site conditions, and long-term performance.

We look forward to engaging with developers, operators, and stakeholders on practical site management approaches that deliver.

EPR attendees include:
Kevin Tweedy, Principal Engineer - [email protected] and
Rich Hanson, Environmental Specialist - [email protected]

If you’ll be attending, we look forward to connecting.

EPR’s Tally Ho Farm Forest Mitigation Bank, located in Monkton, Maryland, has credits currently available to serve projects in Baltimore County.

Approved through the Baltimore County Department of Environmental Protection and Sustainability (DEPS), the bank provides an off-site forest mitigation option for projects that receive County approval to use credits.

Our Licensed Professional Foresters and members of the Society of American Foresters support both sides of the process, providing responsible forest management on the ground and accurate, dependable guidance through permitting and mitigation requirements.

If you’re planning a project in Baltimore County and evaluating forest mitigation options, Bryan Seipp from our Baltimore office can discuss applicability and current credit availability.

EPR’s Bryan Seipp is presenting today alongside research partners Carol Wong (Center for Watershed Protection) and Kip Mumaw (Ecosystem Services) as part of the Maryland Stream Restoration Association (MSRA) Webinar Series.

The presentation shares applied research comparing working in the wet versus working in the dry for stream restoration construction, with a focus on downstream turbidity and total suspended sediment impacts across multiple Maryland restoration sites. Using continuous monitoring and site-specific analysis, the study explores how construction methods, geomorphic conditions, and efficiency tradeoffs influence environmental outcomes. Research like this helps advance restoration practice and inform policy with real-world data.

Join us for the next MSRA Webinar Series as we explore work in the wet vs. work in the dry stream restoration techniques and their impacts on turbidity and sediment loads.
