Workforce education isn’t standing still, and neither should the spaces that support it.

SSOE’s Tim Swartz and Adriane McGillis are headed to the MiAPPA Summer Conference on Mackinac Island this June to explore exactly that.

Their session explores how institutions can design adaptable, future-ready learning environments as workforce demands shift with AI, automation, and Industry 5.0.

SSOE experts present at MiAPPA on designing adaptable environments for Industry 5.0 and advanced manufacturing training.

As we observe Memorial Day in our U.S. offices, we pause to reflect on the bravery and sacrifice of the service members who gave their lives in defense of our freedoms. We also honor the enduring sacrifices made by their families, as well as those of disabled service members and first responders.

In recognition of the communities we serve and the responsibility we share to support them, SSOE is donating $5,000 to Folds of Honor and will match employee contributions up to an additional $5,000. These funds will help provide educational scholarships to the spouses and children of fallen and disabled military service members and first responders.

We are also honored to be a recipient of the Folds of Honor Medal of Hope, an acknowledgment that reinforces our continued commitment to making a meaningful impact.

Two days at SSOE's world headquarters in Toledo with our partners at Autodesk, bringing together leaders from both teams around a shared focus: AI and project delivery across AEC.

AI doesn't start with algorithms; it starts with data. Our conversations centered on connected systems, asset lifecycle management, governance, and what it actually takes to be operationally ready to put AI to work at scale and move the needle for our clients.

Now in year 12 of our enterprise partnership with Autodesk, this relationship goes far beyond licensing. We maintain a feedback loop both teams actively invest in.

We’ve always made a point to explore what’s next with intention. These two days reinforced we’re aligned with the right partner to keep moving that needle forward.

Preservation isn’t about freezing a building in time. It’s about helping it evolve with it.

SSOE and our friends at SHYFT were recognized by DEV Partners and The Des Moines Heritage Trust for our work on The Concord Collaborative, a 1919 building reimagined through adaptive reuse. The project was among this year’s Historic Preservation Projects of the Year.

The project blends historic materials with modern workplace design. We loved the result enough to move in ourselves.

Derek Lord of The Des Moines Heritage Trust, Danny Heggen of DEV Partners, and SSOE’s Morgan Rinker and Jeff Blosser all quoted within.

A walk to remember. On Sunday, we took strides toward fighting heart disease, the leading cause of death in the US, at the American Heart Association's annual Toledo Heart Walk at Promenade Park.

This year marked the launch of the AHA Nation of Lifesavers™, an effort focused on doubling cardiac arrest survival rates by 2030. By turning bystanders into lifesavers through CPR training, the initiative empowers communities to walk the walk with the knowledge, training, and tools to step in with confidence.

Leading the charge was our CEO Vince DiPofi, who served as the 2026 Toledo Heart Walk Chair, nearly 15 years after the heart surgery that saved his life.

We were proud to join our partners, including SmithGroup, at the groundbreaking of The Dental College of Georgia Savannah. This major investment strengthens Georgia’s ability to support economic growth while expanding access to high‑quality dental care.

The new facility will play an important role in educating future dentists and dental professionals, helping build healthier, more resilient communities across the state. As part of the design team, we’re honored to help bring this vision to life—supporting students, care delivery, and the region for years to come.

The college is expected to begin accepting patients in 2028.

Major universities are teaming up to create the Dental College of Georgia Savannah right in the heart of Georgia Southern Armstrong Campus.

Some baggage is worth carrying. Isaiah 117 House provides safe, comforting spaces for children waiting to enter foster care—offering a sense of home, clean clothes, warm meals, toys, blankets, and compassion during one of life’s most traumatic changes.

After meeting with the organization, our Interfaith Alliance Employee Resource Group was inspired by its mission, and through our sponsorship of Purses for a Purpose, a designer purse raffle fundraiser, SSOE helped swap designer bags for a more dignified alternative to the trash bag transition experience, when children’s belongings are often gathered hastily into whatever is available.

Thoughtful design supports long term flexibility. At Children's of Alabama and the Benjamin Russell Hospital for Children expansion, planning for future growth during the original project allowed a 49,000 square foot expansion to be executed efficiently within an active hospital environment and completed two months ahead of schedule.

SSOE was recommissioned to complete the build out of shell space reserved during the initial phase of design and construction. The project included lighting, electrical, fire alarm, data and telecommunications, nurse call, security, and distributed antenna systems supporting 50 additional intensive care rooms. The expansion increased critical care capacity while maintaining continuity with the existing facility infrastructure and operations.

Investing in well-being yields better returns. Inspired by the wooded ravine and pond behind the property, Envisage Wealth’s Worthington, OH office turns a new leaf through biophilic design. Warm wood tones, faceted skylights, and a signature screen wall planted with native vegetation bring the outdoors in—creating a seamless connection to the natural landscape.

The payoff: a calmer space for employees and clients alike where healthier financial decisions are made, naturally.

The ribbon-cutting also signified the first completed project designed and delivered by the SHYFT team as part of SSOE Group.
