JOIN OUR TEAM! Toano Contractors is the premier site work and land development contractor in Hampton Roads, serving hundreds of businesses, general contractors, and government agencies since 1983. Our expertise encompasses everything from initial erosion control installation to final pavement striping—and all aspects in between. We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Civil Estimator to support our expanding operations. The ideal candidate will excel in accurate take-offs and creating precise estimates, collaborating effectively with subcontractors and suppliers. This role is crucial for ensuring that our projects are accurately estimated and delivered on time and within budget. The Estimator will work closely with project managers, construction teams, and clients to build comprehensive estimates that reflect the scope of work. Strong communication skills, a proactive attitude and strong work ethic are essential.

Job Responsibilities
•Develop accurate cost estimates for construction projects by analyzing drawings, specifications, and other project documents.
•Utilize take-off software such as Trimble Business Center, AGTEK, CAD or similar programs to create detailed estimates and manage project data.
•Collaborate with project managers to understand project requirements and timelines.
•Conduct site visits to assess conditions and gather necessary information for accurate estimating.
•Monitor cost control throughout the project lifecycle, identifying areas for potential savings or adjustments.
•Prepare detailed reports and presentations on estimates for internal review and client proposals.
•Stay updated on industry trends, materials, and best practices in construction management.

Job Requirements
•Proven experience in civil construction estimating or a related field, with a strong understanding of construction management principles.
•Proficiency in estimating software such as Trimble Business Center, AGTEK, CAD or similar programs is preferred.
•Strong negotiation skills with the ability to communicate effectively with various stakeholders.
•Knowledge of cost control methods and practices in construction projects.
•Familiarity with construction site operations and safety protocols.
•Excellent analytical skills with attention to detail to ensure accuracy in estimates.
•Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously while meeting deadlines.
•Strong organizational skills and a proactive approach to problem-solving.
