Have you noticed lately that the music "the kids" are listening to is just too weird for you to get into? Have you been shocked to realize you think of them as "the kids"? Has your body started betraying you as the inevitable signs of the middle of your lifespan approach, driven along by the inexorably drumbeat of a clock?
What if you could go back to a mystical era when your shoulders didn't hurt at the end of a day? When the vehicles were carbureted, the music was disco, and the soothing voice of Walter Kronkite told you everything you needed to worry about in the world, and that it would all be okay? What if there was a mystical time machine* that could transport you back to this era, available at your friendly local salvage yard, either in pieces, or as a whole intact project car?
Enter the Triumph Spitfire. Designed by an Italian, built by the British, the Spitfire is a two seater convertible, with a 5 speed manual transmission, a 1.5 liter engine, and a dash specifically engineered to destroy the knees of anyone taller than average height that dares to try shifting a gear. With a name that sounds like it was a WW2 plane, a body that can fit into the tiniest of parking spaces, and no where near enough seats for your kids, it'll transport you back to an era when your biggest fear was "Oh, s**t, is this thing about to die on me in the middle of the road?". And, most importantly, we here at Lew's have one.
Look at that gorgeous red color, the painted head and valve cover, and, honestly, I can't make that much fun of the actual car. Sure, she's a tiny, temperamental, excessively British thing, but I get it. There's something deeply rewarding about getting one of these old cars together, running, and looking pretty. You learn the ins and outs of the drivetrain (Did I mention we have the Haynes manual and parts guide for it in the trunk?), learn it's moods and temperaments, and have a tangible product for all your effort you can show off afterwards. That's a rare thing in our digital age, and well worth the effort it takes. She'd make your ex-wife jealous, your dad proud of you, and your current girlfriend want a ride (in it. We're talking about the car here).
If you're interested in parts from the Spitfire, or even would like to talk about the whole vehicle as your new project car, feel free to reach out to us. Our sales staff would be happy to help get you into this spitfire, or get you parts for that car you really should be fixing instead, even if they don't give you a chance to try out your British accent. If you'd prefer clicking links instead of calling phone numbers, keep an eye on our Ebay store (https://www.ebay.com/str/lewsautoparts) where we'll be listing the individual parts from this car in a week or so.
* The Spitfire is a time machine, but it only goes forward in time, at the rate of about 1 min/min, depending on speed. It also travels through space, which is a kind of time if you really think about it
