Northeast Aquaculture Conference and Expo: Productive, energizing, and a full of momentum.

Seascale exhibited at the expo, connected with farms and partners from across the region, and it was a highlight to hear multiple customers and partners reference our gear in their presentations.

Charlie presented: “Adapting Fishing Technology, Workflow, and Policy to the Development of Emerging Aquaculture Species.”

Maine aquaculture is growing fast, especially the interest in scallops and urchins. Great timing for us to show off the Maine Urchin Pot!

Congratulations to Maine Aquaculture for a fantastic job hosting! And a huge thank you Seth White of Sol Mariculture , Michael Scannell of S**o Bay Sea Farms , Stephen Eddy of University of Maine, and Mike Coogan of University of New HampshireUniversity of New Hampshire for the shout outs!

Cabin Fever is real, so come talk scallops with us at Herring Gut Coastal Science Center in Port Clyde on December 4, 6:00 to 7:30 pm.

We will share how we are working to open new doors for fishermen and coastal communities, and how the Maine Scallop Pot uses familiar lobster gear to make scallop farming work at boat scale.

Join us as part of Herring Gut’s Cabin Fever Series to dig into the gear, the industry, and where this could go next.

Attend in person at 59 Factory Road, Port Clyde, or join via Zoom.

Register at herringgut.org.

Six months, deep-water offshore, no tending.

Independent University of New Hampshire trials led by Mike Coogan delivered great growth, great survival, and no fouling.

This is how Seascale is rewriting scallop-farming economics: Fishermen friendly gear built for the boats already on the water. Less labor. More yield. Stronger working waterfronts.

Thanks Mike and the UNH team, we cant wait for the next update in the spring!

We loved jumping into a true cross-Atlantic blue-economy conversation in Portland. Huge thanks to the British Consulate General in Boston, National Caucus of Environmental Legislators, and Gulf of Maine Research Institute for hosting a lively, hopeful session.

Seascale’s takeaway is simple: Our working waterfront and fishing fleet is Maine’s competitive edge. When practical gear meets clear policy, innovation accelerates. That’s the path we’re charting with the Maine Scallop Pot™, putting working boats at the front of the blue economy.

We love working with innovative farmers, and Seth White is a standout. His Farm Sol Mariculture is a pioneer in IMTA (Integrated Multi-Trophic Aquaculture) growing oysters, sea greens, and sea urchins together, producing premium seafood with regenerative practices.

Together we’ve been developing The Maine Urchin Pot™, Seascale gear for urchin aquaculture, built to be user-friendly, ergonomic, and reliable for real-world conditions.

If you’re an oyster fan, check out Seth's Sol Sunbursts, deep-cup oysters finished in floating cages for a clean, salty merroir.

Hey! Thanks Maine Aquaculture for featuring us in your The Bangor Daily News incubator spotlight!

MAIC has been a true resource, opening doors, partnering on grants, and accelerating our path from prototype to production. Being a MAIC incubator company at the University of Maine The Darling Marine Center has given us access to an incredible community of professionals who are eager to help. Seascale wouldn’t be where we are today without them!

Anyone who is thinking about building an innovative aquaculture business here in Maine would benefit from reaching out to MAIC and UMaine. We would be happy to share our experience with anyone who is curious!

If you missed the Aquaculture & Maine Marine Living Resources section of the Bangor Daily News on Friday, check out the e-edition here: https://lnkd.in/gBQwnYhW

The aquaculture feature starts right after the puzzles. (See if you can spot Charlie Walsh in the Maine Sea Grant section too!)

We couldn’t be more excited for Michael and the S**o Bay Sea Farms team!

With a strong focus on scallops and urchins, two of the most promising emerging species for Maine aquaculture, they’re leading the way in diversifying the working waterfront.

It’s incredible to see how much they love working with our gear.

We’ll be building as fast as we can to keep up with these rising stars.
