Today's adventure is in Gautier, MS. A new customer called me yesterday afternoon and said he had a forklift that needed a bunch of hoses. Someone had removed several hoses before he acquired it, and therefore, I have nothing to reference for the length of some of the hoses. There are a few hoses laying loose on the machine. I just have to figure out where they go. I reached out to a guy in Illinois that services these machines and he sent me some technical drawings. Now, I am trying to figure out this giant puzzle!

I had to use my truck to power my house, due to a blown transformer, followed by Hurricane Isaias coming in and blowing trees down onto power lines.

The new inventory of 29 line items of BSPP and BSPT hose ends are put away in my cabinet. I also picked up 3 line items of DIN Light hose ends. I now have a total of 213 line items of hose ends to meet the needs of my customers. I still have more that I need, but my wallet needs a break! I need some more customers so that I can recoup some of the money I just invested into my business and continue growing. If you or someone you know needs a hydraulic hose, give me a call.

New inventory picked up today! About 30 line items of BSPP, BSPT and a few DIN hose ends. I will add pictures once I get it processed and put away.

Had to go out and make a hose for a new customer this evening. My truck has been parked too much lately. I had issues starting my truck before I even left my yard. Then my generator gave me a little bit of a fit when I got to the customer's location. I worked through those issues and got the new hose made. All is well that ends well.

Replaced my rear lights with some LED lights. They're a lot brighter, and look better in the daytime, too.

I try to keep things organized as best as I can. I have everything sorted by type, size, male or female, straight (180°), 45° and 90° angled. It saves me time. It also helps to make me money. If I can't find a hose end when I need it, I lose a sale and, potentially, a customer. The more inventory I add, the less organized it appears! Don't pay too much attention to the nearly empty drawers....I am working on filling those up as well. It takes time....and money. Right now, I've got more time than money!

I got my new inventory priced and put away in the cabinet. I now have a total of 182 line items of hose ends. I still have about 50 more line items that I need to get.

I made a short 1" hose for a new customer today. About a week ago, another customer came to me for a hose. I had made a couple of hoses for him in the past. I didn't have the hose end he needed last week because it was a DIN Light, and all I had was DIN Heavy. I don't see too much of the DIN stuff, but every once in a while, somebody shows up with some. Anyway, he referred his friend to me with the 1" hose that I made today. Since I had to go get the Code 61 fitting for the new customer from my supplier, I went ahead and got all the DIN fittings that I could get. I now have almost 50 new line items to add to inventory and get stocked in my cabinet. I'm gonna be busy for a little while.

Times are tough right now for a lot of folks. A couple of other hydraulic hose guys in other areas of the state are throwing in the towel. I have to admit that the idea has crossed my mind as well, but I'm not giving up just yet. This is my "Field of Dreams" metaphorically speaking. I'm still building it and about to order more inventory. It may seem crazy to keep investing in something with little return, but that's what I'm going to do. In my lifetime, I have been called crazy, stubborn, hard-headed, and foolish on more than one occasion. I have even been accused of having too much pride. The verdict hasn't been reached on those accusations. I trust that my hydraulic hoses won't give in due to pressure, so I'm not giving in, either. In the meantime, if you need a hydraulic hose, call on this crazy, hard-headed, stubborn ol' fool and I will be proud to make you a new hydraulic hose to get you back up and running!
