The ELEMENT team had a great experience at the 2026 Florida's Local Users Group (FLUG) Conference!

Juan Villafuerte-Albor, EI provided hands on support to the attendees of the Roadway Design Civil Geometry & Civil Cells presentation. Which showcased sharing practical techniques to streamline roadway design and improve efficiency .

As Juan put it, "Sharing knowledge can inspire others to do great things."

That spirit of learning and collaboration is what makes FLUG such a valuable experience.

ELEMENT team members Michael Falzone, EI and Cecily Barnes, PE also attended, connecting with industry peers and expanding their technical knowledge.

It is with incredibly heavy hearts that we share the unexpected passing of our colleague and friend, Vicken Serpekian.

Vicken was one of those people you got to know quickly. His smile could light up a room, and he had a way of making people feel welcome, valued, and as though he had known them for years.

Vicken was an Associate Vice President and partner at ELEMENT, a shareholder in 4CE, and a talented engineer who cared deeply about his work and the people around him. But titles only tell a small part of who he was.

He was a friend, a mentor, and someone who was always willing to stop what he was doing to help another person. He took a genuine interest in helping people grow, whether that meant answering a question, sharing what he had learned, offering encouragement, or simply taking the time to listen. His mentorship shaped careers, built confidence, and made a lasting difference for so many people across our team. He did it all with patience, humor, kindness, and a sincere desire to see others succeed.

Vicken left a lasting mark on ELEMENT, not only through the work he helped shape, but through the people he mentored, supported, and befriended along the way.

We will miss his leadership, his laughter, his smile, and most of all, his friendship.

Our hearts are with Vicken’s family, friends, colleagues, and everyone who had the privilege of knowing him.

Another great Transportation Supersession in the books!

ELEMENT enjoyed an evening connecting with colleagues and transportation professionals from across the state at the 2026 Tampa Bay Transportation Supersession. This year’s Florida First theme highlighted what brings so many of us together, a shared commitment to moving Florida and its communities forward.

For National Coffee Day, we brought the coffee truck to Team ELEMENT for a chance to step away, recharge, and enjoy some time together. Small moments help build a strong team and an even stronger culture.

Today, we remember and honor the lives lost on September 11, 2001, and honor the courage of the first responders, service members, and everyday Americans who stepped forward in the face of tragedy.

May we continue to carry forward the strength, unity, and compassion shown in the days that followed. Today and always, we remember.

Marco Camilla, one of ELEMENT’s Engineering Technicians, recently attended Public Workshop #2 for the City of Palatka Safety Action Plan, where he served as the technical expert responsible for developing the project’s High-Injury Network analysis.

During the workshop, Marco helped answer questions and provide clarification on the crash analysis and associated findings, helping turn technical data into meaningful conversations about safety within the community. Marco also had the opportunity to connect with City of Palatka Mayor Robbi Correa during the workshop.

We’re grateful for opportunities to support our clients and communities as they work toward safer transportation systems for all road users.

ELEMENT was excited to join WTS Tampa Bay for Strikes for Scholars, combining an evening of friendly competition with an important mission, raising funds for the WTS Tampa Bay Scholarship Program.

Whether we were throwing strikes or just trying to keep it out of the gutter, we were happy to be there supporting future transportation professionals and connecting with our industry community!

ELEMENT had a great time supporting WTS Central Florida’s Chips for ’Ships Fundraising Poker Tournament once again. Even better, Sayna Movahedi, EI, represented Team ELEMENT with a third-place finish overall!

Beyond the friendly competition, we’re grateful for the opportunity to support scholarships and help invest in the future of the transportation industry.

Congratulations to Sayna, and thank you to WTS Central Florida for another successful event!
