PCS Structural Solutions

PCS Structural Solutions Structural Engineering firm with offices in Seattle, Tacoma, and Portland. In 1987 Ray sold "Chalker Engineers" to Dan Putnam, Jim Collins, and Don Scott.

PCS Structural Solutions was originally organized in 1965 and incorporated in 1969 by Ray Chalker. Thirty years later the company rebranded itself with the name it holds today, PCS Structural Solutions. Our goal is to be the best Structural Engineering Firm, which cannot be done without a good people behind it. We desire for our firm to have a vibrant, fun, and creative family atmosphere - what we

call "PCS Culture". The average tenure is over 14 years with the company. Our tool belts include new technologies and methods (such as BIM, IPD, non-linear analysis) and dependence upon the knowledge and experience of our staff. We strive to bring grace, efficiency, and value to the structural design by actively working with Architects to achieve architectural vision without compromise.

Project highlight: This 18-story, 400-room luxury hotel developed by the Muckleshoot Indian Tribe offers sweeping views of Mount Rainier and the Olympic mountain range while delivering luxury dining, spa and recreational facilities for guests.

PCS designed a 323,000 SF, 7-story parking structure addition to the existing 7-story parking structure at Muckleshoot Casino. This additional parking serves the new resort, providing additional capacity for large events. The parking structure is a post-tensioned, one-way system with exterior concrete moment frames. Project Highlight: The 78,500 square foot Thurston County Readiness Center is a two-story, masonry facility for administration, training and storage occupancies. The team solved a large number of detailing challenges due to the complexity of the project’s light monitors, complex roof angles, and exposed structure.
