This November, we celebrate the natural origins that make Purebase products possible, the soil and the farmers who nurture it.

From humates formed in ancient earth to the minerals and clays that protect today’s crops, every product we create starts with nature’s story, and continues through the hands of those who grow our food.

Happy Halloween from Purebase! 👻

Healthy soil isn’t spooky, it’s full of life! 🪱 Beneath the surface, billions of tiny organisms are hard at work breaking down organic matter, improving soil structure, and helping plants thrive.

This Halloween, let’s celebrate the good kind of underground activity — the microbial magic that keeps our farms and fields alive all year long. 🌱

Big news in regenerative agriculture: McDonald’s USA is launching its largest-ever $200 million investment over the next seven years in regenerative ranching through its Grassland Resilience & Conservation Initiative, in partnership with NFWF, USDA’s NRCS, and key suppliers.

What this means for soil, farmers, and the future:

🟢 Ranchers across 4 million acres in up to 38 states will get access to tools, grants, and resources to implement regenerative grazing, restore grasslands, and enhance soil health.
🟢 Projects will aim to boost carbon sequestration, improve water retention, and support biodiversity in grassland ecosystems.
🟢By aligning environmental goals with supply chain resilience, this is a signal that large-scale food brands see soil health as core infrastructure.

At Purebase, we believe this is the kind of scale and commitment needed to shift regenerative practices from niche to normative. Healthy soil is not optional — it’s essential.

Soil Recovery in the Fall 🍂

Fall is the perfect time to give your soil a little TLC. As crops come out of the ground, returning organic matter and nutrients helps prepare fields for a strong spring start. Compost, cover crops, and soil amendments all work together to rebuild structure, balance microbes, and lock in fertility before winter sets in.

Soil Microbes & Carbon 🌍

Soil microbes are tiny climate heroes. 🦠 They don’t just support plant growth — they help capture carbon from the atmosphere and lock it away in the soil.

Here’s how it works:

✨ Plants pull carbon dioxide out of the air through photosynthesis.
✨ They send carbon-rich sugars down to their roots as food for microbes.
✨ Microbes use this energy to build stable organic matter, storing carbon in the soil long-term.

The result? More carbon in the ground (where it belongs), healthier soils, and better harvests for farmers. 🌱🌾
