💡Is it feasible to implement point-of-care hepatitis C virus (HCV) RNA testing and same-day treatment in a tribal setting, including a harm reduction site? Yes, according to a new study published in JAMA Network Open (1).

📑Researchers from Cherokee Nation Health Services investigated this topic and found a community-based approach incorporating the Xpert® HCV test was associated with a high percentage of same-day treatment for American Indian and Alaska Native participants. Study authors further concluded their results “support expanding point-of-care HCV RNA testing and integrated treatment to advance HCV elimination.”
