On Friday, May 20th, the F-150 Lightning was on display at the Live Fire BBQ fundraising event, as well as Saturday, May 21st at the Vintners Plaza Grand Tasting. It was powering the band at the Grand Tasting!

The new F-150 Lightning was on display Saturday night at the Rodney Strong Vineyards outdoor concert, as well as Sunday, May 22nd at Dutton Ranch for the BBQ lunch with Tim Love.

Ford Pro, in collaboration with the Sonoma County Winegrowers, is bringing sustainable farming to the next level in a special pilot program. Ford Pro is supplying several Sonoma County wine grape farmers with charging stations and software solutions -- all part of an effort to improve farmer bottom lines, operational efficiencies and reduce carbon emissions.

How to Know How Many Charging Stations Your Project Needs

Installing electric vehicle (EV) charging stations can be a great addition to a property. Determining how many charging stations, however, can be difficult. The challenge is providing enough charging stations for both today’s and tomorrow’s needs. The number of EVs on the road is rapidly increasing, therefore, it is critical to provide enough charging stations for the increasing demand.

Today’s EV Market Share
Despite the on-going pandemic, EVs sold in record numbers in 2021. The largest contributors were the Tesla Model Y and Model 3. New entrants also help EV sales such as the Volkswagen ID.4 and Ford Mustang Mach E. By the end of 2021 there were 435,000 EVs sold in the United States per Reuters. Just five years ago only 157,000 EVs were sold per EV Volumes.
When compared to the total passenger vehicle market, EVs accounted for 3% of sales in 2021. In the EV-popular State of California, EVs represented around 11% of sales per Veloz. In other words, one in every ten vehicles sold in California was electric.

When planning your EV charging station project, it is important to consider the rising sales of EVs. As more and more people transition to electric, they will need more charging infrastructure.

While it can be difficult to estimate what the future may bring, several analysts have predicted the future EV market share over the next decade. These estimates consider current vehicle and battery production, new models, new vehicle and battery factories, and pledged R&D investments across the automotive industry.

Analysts predict that by 2025 there will be 2,000,000 EVs sold, which would account for over 12% of the national market. By 2030, the same report estimates around 4,700,000 EVs sold with a nearly 30% market share.

EV Charging User Survey
If the project is at a workplace or multifamily property, a survey can be conducted to evaluate how many occupants currently have an EV or plan to get one in the near future. The survey should also ask how much installing charging stations would affect the occupant’s decision to get an EV. Based on the survey results, you can predict how many charging stations are needed for the project.

EV-Ready Infrastructure
If the project budget is not able to include enough EV charging stations to account for future demand.

EV-ready infrastructure includes everything but the charging station itself. With this, all the necessary underground work and electrical system are “made ready,” which is less expensive than installing the full charging station. When the demand gets to the point where more chargers are needed, a contractor can simply install the hardware at the pre-specified parking space.

SemaConnect EV charging stations are compatible with new construction, retrofit projects, or existing make-ready infrastructure and include management software.

Milk Run

During World War II, many jobs formerly performed by men were taken over by women. In these photos, Mrs. Helen Joyce, "one of the many women who now work for the Supplee-Wills-Jones Milk Co.," is making morning deliveries of milk and milk products to individual homes in Bryn Mawr, PA, a tony Philadelphia suburb.

At the time of this June 1943 photo, she had one child and her husband was a seaman first-class in the Navy.

Mrs. Joyce was piloting a Walker electric delivery van. Walker Electric Trucks were battery-powered vehicles built from 1907 to 1942 in Chicago, Illinois and Detroit, Michigan. Matchbox produced a scale model (approximately 1:60 scale) 1919 Walker Electric Parcel Van as part of its Yesteryear series in 1985 in Harrod's Ltd. (the iconic London department store) livery.
