A snake bite is usually bad news, right? Well in offshore drilling, this one is a step forward.

For years, changing lines meant relying on traditional wire mesh grips that could do the job, but when thousands of pounds of line are suspended high in the derrick, “most of the time” is not good enough.

That challenge led to SnakeBite, a new grip developed with Loadmaster ERE to give crews a more consistent, engineered connection during wire change-outs. The external case study says SnakeBite was created to eliminate the use of traditional cable snakes, is fully installable by rig crews, and is designed to reduce the potential for human error and dropped object incidents.

This solution is made in crimp-on and weld-on versions and in multiple sizes. SnakeBite is a practical solution developed with crews and partners to address a long-standing operational risk.

How can the drilling industry collaborate to work toward the adoption of open, contractor-neutral, vendor-neutral, and standards-based interoperability? Next week, Noble will host the IADC DEC Q2 2026 Tech Forum with a goal of increasing shared understanding of the current state of data interoperability among industry peers, and our own subject matter experts will present on the deployment of HSE Advanced Analytics.

On International Day for Women in Maritime, we recognize the growing range of opportunities offshore and the value that comes from broadening participation across the industry. Offshore operations depend on strong technical skills and teamwork, and those strengths only deepen when the talent pool is expanded. Creating pathways for more women to work offshore helps build a more resilient, adaptable workforce that benefits rig crews and long-term performance. The offshore drilling industry is at its best when it draws from diverse experience and perspectives to solve complex challenges safely and efficiently. At Noble, we see how inclusive access to offshore careers supports operational excellence and the future of our industry.

What if offshore crews could practice stop work moments, tough conversations, and hazard recognition in a realistic VR environment, both on the rig and onshore? That is exactly what we are doing with immersive virtual reality training, and Paulo Moritz breaks it down in Offshore magazine. Early results are strong: 42 crew members completed 400+ sessions in the first months, and more than three quarters came back for more.

The goals are simple: build readiness earlier, reduce exposure to risk, and create more consistent ex*****on across our U.S. Gulf operations. Read the full piece here:

Digital tools are supporting safety, training and asset performance in the US Gulf.
