Maywood Supportive Living progress report: Maywood Supportive Living is listed on the National Register of Historic Places. The original building was constructed in phases with the original Tudor style structure completed in 1930. The north side of the building is a 1950’s and 60’s international style. The building is six stories with a penthouse and measures a total of 133,000 sq ft. Several years ago, a fire destroyed the 3rd floor of the southeast wing. The building had sat vacant for about 17 years when renovations began in 2021.
When complete, the facility will have 100 assisted living apartments and space for a future memory care unit of 21 apartments. The facility will serve 3 meals a day and provide laundry service to the residents. There will be activity spaces, a wellness center, resident lounges, theater, etc.
As of October 1st, 2021, demolition is complete and masonry restoration is in progress. Repairs are underway on the existing structure and roofing is being replaced. Interior partition locations are being laid out on the floors. Electrical conduit and fan coil units are being installed in the ceilings. Existing elevators have been decommissioned and are being upgraded. Replacement of the 3rd floor on the southeast wing that was destroyed by fire is being reconstructed.
