Griffin Industries is currently seeking a team-focused, driven, results oriented DESIGN ENGINEER who has the desire to contribute to our continued success. The successful candidate will be responsible for pro-active management of multiple, concurrent projects which require ongoing customer and internal communication.

Griffin Industries provides full-service solutions to the prototype and low lot machined casting requirements of our industry. Founded in 1983, Griffin was one of the first pattern shops in the United States to use emerging CNC technology to manufacture foundry tooling. Since then, we have quadrupled our building size and are progressively adding new capabilities in CNC, CMM and RP solutions.

Job Duties and Responsibilities:

Develop and/or revise gating/risering/chilling and foundry tooling while troubleshooting casting defects that are identified during the process
Create, Draft, and/or modify 3D models
Design foundry patterns, core tooling from 3D part models
Create and modify models and engineering drawings
Interpret engineering drawings
Create new specifications and detailing for cores that go into the molds
Assist in resolving customer dimensional problems (tool related issues)
Maintain awareness of improved and competitive technologies to enhance Griffin’s competitive position
Work directly with pattern shop, quality, and production personnel to analyze and correct problems, resolve tooling design issues, and drive continuous improvement

Preferred skills:

5 years of experience in casting/tooling engineering
Experience with PTC Creo, SOLIDWORKS or similar CAD software
Experience with Magma software a plus
Excellent customer service and communication skills
Able to work under stress and meet tight deadlines
Able to work with a variety of people and personalities
Able to work within a team to meet customer requirements

Griffin Industries is now hiring a second shift Lead CNC Machinist! Our preferred candidate has a strong knowledge of machining castings, the ability to work with/coach other team members, and a contagious positive attitude. Griffin Industries is a people-first organization. It is important our team members reflect our values and treat others with respect.

This position works Monday - Wednesday 3pm - 1:30am and Thursday 3pm - 11:30pm.

Duties and Responsibilities of the Job:

- Train and mentor other 2nd shift employees as needed.
- Make tool changes, offsets and resolve problems as they arise.
- Set up and operate vertical and/or horizontal machining equipment.
- Communicate with programmers to ensure new programs or machinery function properly and output will meets specifications..
- Remove burrs, sharp edges and clean parts using buffers, belt sanders and rotary tools.
- Calculate and record dimensions or tolerances, using instruments such as micrometers or calipers.
- Communicate with quality, engineering, supervisory, or manufacturing personnel to exchange technical information.

Preferred skills:

- Ability to mentor and teach while being a positive role model and carrying out core company values.
- Strong knowledge of vertical and/or horizontal machining of castings.
- Familiar with Fanuc controls preferred.
- Familiar with Siemens controls a plus.
- Stable work history.
- Mechanical aptitude and desire to learn.
- Forklift operation/certification experience preferred.
- Able to work independently with minimal or no guidance.
- Good physical condition (able to lift up to 50 lbs and stand for long periods of time).
- Good verbal communication skills.
