High temperatures are the primary cause of inverter derating where the unit intentionally slows down its power output to prevent melting internal solder or frying its processor. In the Arizona heat, ambient air in an RV compartment can easily exceed the 113°F (45°C) threshold where most inverters start losing efficiency.
Here are the most effective ways to keep your inverter stable during a heat wave:

1. Optimize Airflow and Ventilation
Standard RV compartments are often poorly ventilated, trapping the heat the inverter generates.
• Install 12V DC Cooling Fans: Adding high-static pressure computer fans (like Noctua or Titan) to the compartment door or wall can force hot air out. For best results, use an intake/exhaust pair to create a cross-breeze.
•Use a Thermal Controller: Instead of running fans 24/7,it to kick the fans on when the compartment hits 95°F and off once it cools to 85°F.

•Propped Compartment Doors: If you are parked in a safe, private area, simply propping the inverter bay door open slightly can drop internal temperatures by 10–15°F.
