We recently had the pleasure of hosting a group of students and instructors here at our Harleysville, Pennsylvania branch for a tour and Q&A session, to introduce them to some of the career opportunities available upon graduation.

The Macomb Group supports the future of skilled trades

The Macomb Group recently had the pleasure of welcoming students and staff from Philadelphia Technician Training Institute (PTTI) to our Harleysville, Pennsylvania branch for a firsthand look at the warehouse, distribution, and fabrication side of our industry.

Nate Sharpless, Regional Division Manager – Fire Fabrication, Mid-Atlantic, hosted the group, leading students on a tour of the facility followed by an open Q&A session. The visit gave students an opportunity to see our operations up close, ask questions, and gain a better understanding of the career opportunities available within the skilled trades and industrial distribution.

“The visit sparked some excellent conversations and gave both organizations a better understanding of how we can work together,” Nate said. “The Macomb Group is excited to continue building our relationship with PTTI by providing industry contacts, materials, and resources that can support their training efforts. Ultimately, we hope to help these students turn their training into rewarding careers in the trades.”

According to Thomasine Buchanan, Manager of Career Services at PTTI, experiences like this are valuable in helping students connect their classroom training to the workforce. She also expressed PTTI’s interest in continuing the conversation and exploring opportunities to strengthen the student-to-employment pipeline.

We appreciate the students and staff at PTTI for spending time with us and bringing plenty of great questions and enthusiasm.

Supporting the future of skilled trades means helping the next generation see firsthand where their skills can take them. We look forward to continuing the conversation with PTTI and finding meaningful ways to connect students with our industry and the career opportunities it offers.
