The CAD/CAM programmer is responsible for generating and optimizing code for multi-axis CNC mill/turn centers, CNC machining centers, multi-axis CNC turning centers with live tooling and/or CNC Swiss style screw machines through offline programming software systems. Responsibilities will include all aspects of programming from importing solid models to creating geometry from blueprints, including creating job setup sheets and in-process inspection sheets. This position is also expected to perform at levels necessary to ensure the Company’s mission, vision and production goals are consistently met with emphasis on continuous improvement of processes and training. This is a non-exempt, full time, hourly position.
JOB DUTIES:
• Understand Company vision, mission and long-term goals.
• Program and optimize code for a variety of CNC machine tools and supporting equipment.
• Daily/weekly management of DNC/part program library.
• Convert and import customer supplied 3-D models.
• Create detailed set-up sheets and in-process inspection sheets for part operations.
• Recognize and solve problems, in coordination with Manufacturing/Engineering departments, that affect manufacturing plans including cycle times, tool lists, and quality.
• Assist setup machinist with troubleshooting programming issues as necessary.
• Assist Manufacturing/Engineering departments with planning issues as necessary.
• Communicate with the Production Manager on needs of software, hardware, tools, etc. as needed to ensure performance and completion of assigned tasks.
• Adhere to Standards of Operation for the Engineering/Planning Department.
• Adhere to all customers’ recommendations, as required, and all Company established rules.
• Commit necessary effort and performance to ensure meeting the production schedule.
• Investigate cause of deviations to production processes occurring from programming issues.
• Consistently provide quality work and an above average finished product within Company standards and customer specifications.
• Participate in Company meetings and events as needed.
• Adhere to all safety practices, policies and procedures.
ADDITIONAL DUTIES:
Active participant in Drug and Alcohol program.
Perform all other duties and assignments as requested by Management.
REQUIREMENTS:
At least 3 years’ experience w/ solid surfacing and multi-axis programming for prototype and production run CNC machined parts preferred.
Experience with FeatureCAM and/or PartMaker by Autodesk preferred.
Solidworks CAD software preferred.
Knowledge and/or familiarity with g-code/m-code programming and editing preferred.
Ability to effectively communicate with team members.
Read and interpret blueprints, programs, manufacturing instructions and work orders.
Ability to work independently and be motivated to perform responsibilities to provide a high-end, quality product.
Detail, quality and safety oriented.
Ability to work to specifications and extremely high attention to detail.
Cost reduction minded individual seeking continuous improvement.
