A simple thank you is in order for the Aberdeen, Carolina, and Western Railway. This year, your fantastic team brought some real twinkle back to Star, NC, with your Carolina Christmas Train. It truly was a big draw for locals, far-away guests, and railfans alike.
It was nice to leave the shop around 5:00 and hear the train horn leaving town full of excited kids and guests.
Our family had a wonderful time on December 21st and felt the arrangements and service were top-notch. This was no small feat, but you guys knocked it out of the park.
Johnson CNC and our family are grateful for the Christmas adventure you brought out in “Twinkle Town."

Everyday our lives are changed, altered, or just nudged down a never ending web of pathways.
Sometimes we meet individuals completely by chance who pick us up and place us on an entirely different pathway. Most times family has a major influence.
My path was altered heavily some 20 years ago, after my uncle Tommy arranged a job interview with Tex Powell.
The owner of Tex Racing was a tall gentleman wearing black jeans and a royal blue button up shirt. He was direct to the point and only had 1 interview question “Can you change a lawn mower blade?”

He started off teaching myself and a number of other high school “Shop Puppies” how to “grind a bucket” or whatever other odd jobs he could think of.
Of course we really dispised grinding buckets but learned extremely good work ethic by doing it to the best of our abilities.
I ended up working mostly in his machining department learning the ins and outs on manual equipment then graduating to CNC machining.

Whether he knew it or not he kick started my career right there. He always seemed to have the best team of employees around. What a fantastic group to have worked with and learn from in those days.

Who knows where I would have ended up otherwise but working for Tex Powell certainly pushed me down the right path.
Thank you Tex for giving all us shop puppies the chance to learn. We are all eternally grateful.
